Monday - Wednesday, the students will be doing some practice MAP problems to prepare for the Math portion of the test. This week, they will also learn how to measure length, time, weight, and liquids. Monday, we will measure to the nearest 1/2 centimeter. Tuesday, we'll measure to the nearest 1/4 inch. Wednesday, we will find time to the nearest minute. Thursday, we'll discover how much time has elapsed from the beginning to the end of an activity. Friday, we'll learn how to find the mass of an object in grams or kilograms and the amount of a liquid in liters or milliliters.
Monday, the students will be introduced to point of view. We will read Voices in the Park and discuss how the four characters feel about being there. Tuesday, the students will complete ELA Session 1 of the MAP Test. That afternoon, we will review MAP practice items with a game of Jeopardy. Wednesday, the students will introduced to point of view from a first, second, and third person perspective. They'll see which pronouns go along with each perspective. Thursday, the students will take ELA Sessions 2 & 3 of the MAP Test. Thursday & Friday afternoon, we will be reading a historical fiction book, discussing whose point of view is it written from, and deciding if we agree or disagree with their perspective.
Monday, the students will learn about producers and consumers as they play "Odd One Out". Wednesday - Friday, we will learn about the 3 factors of production - natural, human, and capital resources. Natural resources are those resources found in nature - lead, trees, & soil. Human resources provide labor such as carpenters, bakers, & farmers.
