Hi Conway #OneFamily!

We hope you had a great weekend and are ready for the start of the 2022-2023 school year. Here is a very quick newsletter to help for the first week of school. We can't wait to see you all tonight and this week!

Information for the week:

• Open House Tonight: See the information below about times and other details. If there are not any spots to park, please feel free to use the commuter lot across Primmer House Rd. We have our crossing guard out there to help. Please use the doors to the gym / cafeteria (on the right of the school) so we can greet you, welcome you, and you can access all of the great information booths we have in there. Mrs. Simms and I will be down there all night so if you need anything, please come visit us. (don't forget to visit us even if you don't need anything....we need the hugs and high fives :)
• First Day for Kindergartners tomorrow: We cannot wait for our kinders to start tomorrow! The entire school will be out to greet and help our kiddos get to class from car riders, busses, and walkers. In addition, we will have a staff member on every bus in the afternoon to help our kiddos feel safe and to ensure they all get home to the right location. We have a really special day planned for them! They are going to have an incredible first day!
• First Day for 1st - 5th graders: They start on Wednesday and they too will have extra support to help them get to class and to get home safely. For the first few weeks, we will have an adult on every bus to help make kiddos feel safe and to help model great behaviors and expectations. We worked really hard as a staff to ensure we built a very powerful first two weeks for our kiddos. They will work really hard these next two weeks developing into a classroom family and learning about how to be strong leaders, no matter where they go. High expectations! High energy! High engagement! This then leads to powerful learning for the rest of the year.
• Modes of Transportation Home: Please please make sure that your child's teacher knows how your child is going home every day. We will put a bracelet on every child's book bag that will help ensure they go to the right place on the right day. If you have any questions about this, please stop by our car riders, walkers, and bus booths in the gym this evening. We will help in any way we can.

• August 8th: 1st Grade - 5th grade Open House. To help with traffic control, we will have two sessions for open house. 1st Session: 4:00 - 5:30 for last names that begin with A - M. 2nd Session: 5:30 - 7:00 for last names that begin with N - Z. If you have a blended family with different last names or you cannot make it to your assigned session.....no worries. Just pick one that works for you. If most people follow these assigned times, we will be fine.
• First Day of School for Kindergarten Only on August 9th: For the first time ever in SCPS, Kindergartners, 6th Graders, and 9th Graders (those going through a major transition) will start school 1 day before everyone else. Kindergartners will come to Conway on Tuesday, August 9th.
• First Day of School for Everyone Else (1st - 5th) on August 10th: All 1st - 5th Graders' first day will be August 10th. Kindergartners will come as well.
• August 12th from 5:00 - 6:00 PM: Ice Cream Party for the whole school. All members of our #OneFamily are invited to join us for a celebration of a successful first week together. Bring your entire family for some free yummy ice cream and fun!
