Taking nominations for Students and Teacher of the Month!

Our LVISD Character Trait for September was...Trustworthiness (which, of course, you already knew!). Please email me nominations for a boy and a girl LVHS Student of the Month from each grade level who portray this (and other) positive character traits on a daily basis. I need these by Wednesday morning (maybe just send it now?) and we will vote on Wednesday if there is more than one student nominee per grade level. Students will receive a certificate, recognition over the announcements, and lunch off campus with their favorite principal!

Please also email me with nominations for LVHS Teacher of the Month! This teacher should consistently exhibit a collaborative and positive attitude and should contribute each day towards making LVHS the best high school in America (my, what a high bar!). Teachers will receive a certificate, recognition over the announcements, and lunch off campus with their favorite principal! :)

progress report time! make sure your grades are perfected by 4:00 Monday, October 5. this cycle affects eligibility...please be sure you are communicating with parents and coaches about students at risk of failing!

ACT Tomorrow and PSAT Coming!

Just a reminder that we will be administering the ACT tomorrow 7:45am ~ approximately 1:00pm. The bells will be turned off. We will be testing upstairs. Quiet halls will be appreciated! Thanks!

Coming October 14 ~~ PSAT testing for 9th and 11th graders! We will be testing from 8:15 am ~ until approximately 11:00 am. We will have an adjusted schedule for lunch/7th period that day. If you teach 9th graders or 11th graders, you will be helping to administer the test. I will be sending you a list of test administrators and a time for the training by this Friday!

Jason Walters from First Financial will be on campus Monday, October 5, for cafeteria plan enrollment! Everyone, and I do mean everyone, needs to go and see him, even if you don't want to partake of his services. he will be in the mac from 8-3!

Early Release THIS Wednesday, September 30!

Students will be dismissed at 12:30 pm. First lunch will be from 10:55 - 11:30 and 2nd lunch will be from 12:00 - 12:30 (so 7th period that day will be an hour instead of an hour and a half). Teachers will attend professional development on assessments that afternoon from 1:30 - 4:00. Our focus will be on assessments - what makes a great one and how to use Eduphoria to help track and analyze your data. Then you will use the remaining time to make your first 9 weeks test in a format that works in Eduphoria!

No School on Monday, October 12 and district inservice day on Tuesday, October 13 (so, students have a 4 day weekend).

Curriculum Night - Wednesday, October 7.

Mark your calendars for our annual Curriculum night at Lago Vista High School on Wednesday, October 7, from 6:00 - 7:30. Teachers need to collect outstanding student work to show off what has been happening these first weeks of school! Please meet in the cafeteria from 6-6:30 for an ice cream social!

I am checking that tutorial times are posted tomorrow, so please make sure they are posted outside your door! Don't forget! Everyone needs to hold Thursday morning tutorials plus at least one more day and time!

application for Explorer Profile on the iPad!

Students may earn access to additional features on the iPad, namely Facetime and access to the App store if they meet the following criteria:

1. Student maintains an 80% average or better in all classes.

2. Completed “Application for Explorer Profile” submitted within 10 days of the last day of the nine weeks.

3. No documented technology referrals for improper technology use during the preceding nine weeks.

4. Principal approval of this application.

5. Parent approval signatures.

6. Approval signatures from all of that student's teachers.

So, basically the only way they can have access to these features is if you give them permission to do so (in addition to the other requirements). STUDENTS MAY LOSE THIS ACCESS AT ANY TIME IF THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO USE IT RESPONSIBLY. Applications will be available in the front office beginning the last week of the first nine weeks (October 19). Let your department head know if you have questions or concerns!

the character trait for the month of october is respect!

REMEMBER! Compliance Videos are Due on the 30th of this month. That's THIS WEDNESDAY!

Please print out the certificates and give me a copy or email them as pdf's. Check out the directions if you need them at

If you coach a UIL sport or event...

Please be sure to send me your SRA's prior to sending them out to the entire staff. Since you are removing students from academic instruction, I would like to know about their departure before you send them out to everyone (just in case there are problems with coverage, a conflicting event, or questions about what time you are leaving). Thanks!
