Dr. Seuss

Theodor ( Ted ) Seuss Geisel (Dr. seuss) was born on march 2nd,1904 on Howard street in springfield street, MA. His parents were Theodor Robert Geisel his dad was a brewmaster and is mother's name was Henrietta Seuss. Ted and his sister Marnie lived happy healthy childhoods even with the social and finical hardships of being german immigrants. Dr. seuss's love for writing and creating rhymes and poems came form his mother who would sing and read them so her kids could go to sleep. Overall ted as a child was happy and fun loving.

Overcoming Obstacles

Theodore Geisel left home to attend Dartmouth college where he was the chief editor in the schools humor magazine called Jack-o-Lantern. One night Geisel and his friends were drinking on campus and were caught. this act of breaking a law cost him his gob at the magazine and blacklisted his book writing. when he wrote again he was turned down 29 times befor another book of his was published.


Geisel decided he would have to write using a pen name he choose seuss, which was not only his middle name but also his mother's maiden name. He was then able to writing. Seuss wrote 60 books in his life time, 46 of them were children's books. Some of the books seuss wrote were even made into movies.

Interesting extra information

Dr. seuss was married to a women named Helena. However he had an affair with a women named Audrey who seuss soon married, but not till after Helena got cancer and committed suicide.
