Silver Lake Elementary
June 2022, VOLUME 5, ISSUE 9
From The Principal
Greetings!
It’s hard to believe that we are approaching the end of the school year and that this will be the last newsletter of 2021-22. As I write this, I am reflecting on the many challenges we faced as a learning community this year at Silver Lake and as a greater community nationally and across the world. I am so proud of SLE students, staff, and families for their resilience in facing those challenges and persevering.
As you may have noticed, my monthly newsletter articles were written as an opportunity to increase awareness of the mission, priorities and values at Silver Lake Elementary.
Silver Lake Elementary School, in partnership with families and community, is dedicated to preparing each student for academic, social, and personal success through individualized, relevant, rigorous, aligned, and engaging instruction through the lens of equity.
It’s in the spirit of transparency and collaboration that we have outlined the important goals and aspirations for being the best learning environment possible for your children, our students. Each year at this time we evaluate our goals and celebrate the achievements gained while also keeping an eye on the future and revising our plans for the upcoming year.
The (full) Silver Lake Elementary School Improvement Plan (SIP) can be found on the SLE Website in the bottom right-hand corner (Quick Links) section.
Despite the challenges of returning after the pandemic, we have been fully committed to this important work and appreciate your partnership in the learning process. If you would like to offer any feedback regarding the school improvement plan or schoolwide goals, please reach out using the email below.
In closing, I’d like to add that it has been a pleasure serving the students and staff here at Silver Lake and I’m looking forward to continuing this journey next year. It’s great to be a Mustang!
In partnership,
Silver Lake Principal, Theresa Campbell
READING NIGHT - JUNE 6th
Hello Silver Lake Families! Please join us for our first IN-PERSON Family Reading Night in over two years! We will be in the Silver Lake Elementary Library on Monday, June 6th from 6-7pm (right before the PTA Member Meeting). Join us for stories, treats, book giveaways, and summer reading information. We will also have a special guest, Mill Creek Sno-Isle Children's Librarian, Heather Orsen. Don't forget to wear your pajamas and bring a blanket for you to sit on with your family! We can't wait to read with you!
CHROMEBOOK RETURNS
Hello Silver Lake Families,
As we head into June, we are preparing for the collection of student devices. If your student has a Chromebook and charger assigned to them, we are asking that they be returned to the school on June 13th. This is the first time the district has been able to fully collect devices from students since 2020. Performing this collection will allow the district to be sure devices are cleaned and ready for the next school year. We ask that any Everett student device that you may have at home be returned on this day. After the devices are returned, they will be scanned into our inventory system over the summer. You will receive an automated email stating that the device has been returned when the scanning is complete.
Devices and chargers must be returned to the student's homeroom class.
If your student is participating in Summer Academy, they should keep their device for the summer and turn it in this fall. If you have a district-owned internet hotspot that you do not need during the summer, these may be returned as well. You may also continue to use a checked-out hotspot over the summer if needed for school-related use such as the Summer Program.
