Week of Worship
Each day this past week we have learned about serving others. Each day Pastor Michael Gibson shared an important lesson. We have learned that…
We serve because He calls us.
We serve because we have gifts and talents.
We serve because Jesus served first.
We serve because there is a need.
We serve because if not us, then who?-- I will go.
We also learned about different ways we can serve locally around our community and how to put on a tool belt of service and how as a school we will serve throughout this school year. Serving God and man is just one of the important parts of a relationship with Jesus.
Grandparents Day Sept. 15
We invite all grandparents and adopted grandparents to join us on Sept. 15. This is a special day for all Grandparents of KAES students to come to the school for some entertainment, interactions and a yummy meal that they get to eat with their grandchildren. We will have a short program starting at 10:00 am in the elementary building followed by time to visit with grandchildren in their classrooms. We will finish this special day with a fantastic lunch in our cafeteria. Lunch can be purchased ahead of time for $10.00 before Sept. 12 using the link belor or may be purchased at the door for $15.00 on grandparents day.
Middle School Class Scramble
Today was the KAES 2023 Class Scramble. You should have seen all the stuff that flooded our gym this morning; alll kinds of things you would never think to bring to school. It was a super fun way to kick off our first School Spirit activity challenges. Congratulations to the class of ?? for having the most spirit this year. Go KAES Eagles!
Covid-19 what do I do if my child tests positive
We are still having a couple students each week test positive for Covid-19. We are happy to report that their experiences have only been flu like sympoms. This virus as we all know spreads easy. KAES follows the CDC recomendations. If your child tests positive, we ask that they isolate for 5 day starting the day after their first sympoms. At that time, if sympoms are improving and they have not had a fever within 24 hours, without the use of fever reducing drugs, they may return to school. We will ask that they wear a high-quality mask for an additional 5 days while at school. Here is a simple explanation from the CDC that goes into additional detail. Thank you all for your help stopping the spread at KAES.

The Young Peacemaker
Dear Parents,
During the next few weeks, your child’s teacher is going to use the Young Peacemakers Program to explore principles of conflict resolution that are taught in the Bible. Through this program, your child will learn that repentance, confession, and forgiveness are the heartbeat of conflict resolution. Your child will also discover, Biblical answers to questions like:
What is the heart of conflict?
Is it possible to honor God by my response to conflict?
How can I take responsibility for my contribution to a conflict?
How can I go and talk to someone if we are in a fight?
How can we become friends again if there’s a wall between us?
Students of all ages have learned life changing answers to these questions from the principles taught in the Young Peacemaker. As a parent and teacher, I have found that most students from kindergarten through eighth grade have trouble responding to conflict in a constructive manner. Their natural tendency is to run away from the problem or attack their opponent verbally or even physically. Neither of these extremes will ever resolve conflict. When children respond to conflict, by escaping or attacking, they become more angry, more bitter, and more convinced that their position is right, even if it isn’t.
The opposite is true as well. When children learn to view conflict as an opportunity to bring glory to the Lord and decide to handle their problems responsibly, anger and bitterness dissipate and true conflict resolution can occur. Even if an opponent doesn’t cooperate, the child, who chooses to repent, confess, and forgive, can be confident that he, or she has been faithful to the Lord and obedient to his will. This is success in God’s eyes.
Throughout the next 12 weeks, I will be including a summary of what your child’s teacher has been sharing that week from our Young Peacemakers program. We want you to be aware of what your child has learned about peace making each week. We hope that this summary will help you reinforce the peacemaking principles at home.
I also want to share that if this topic is of interest to you, there is a companion book for adults entitled The Peacemaker by Corlette Sande. I recommend this book for all parents and friends.
Please pray for all of us at KAES as we embark on a growth journey in conflict resolution this year.
Sincerely,
Todd Coulter
KAES Principal
