December News

Happy Holidays!

You're Cordially Invited!

Please consider attending an evening with Solana Beach School District Assistant Superintendent, Terry Decker. He will demystify the Common Core Standards and share information about the shifts in education. Mr. Decker's presentation will be held in the SSF Fine Arts Building this Tuesday, December 10th from 5:30 - 7:00pm. All parents are welcome!

Fourth Grade Study Trips REMINDER

I sent out an email to all parents on Monday, December 2nd outlining our 4th Grade study trips this year; we have some FANTASTIC learning opportunities in store! Please re-visit this email soon to print and complete all the paperwork (two permission slips and one Gold Rush release waiver) for our off-campus trips. Please submit these documents to me by Wednesday, December 18th. A suggested donation to cover the cost of field trip admission, buses, etc. is $90.75 per child; checks can be made out to SSF PTO, who will then cut the checks to each study trip agency. If you need me to re-send you the email with all the detailed information, please contact me ASAP. In addition, any adults interested in chaperoning our study trips may sign up on our "interested volunteer" list; teachers will make the final chaperone decisions based on our level of need and level of response.

Thank you for your help and cooperation in completing these items on time!

Room 25 Winter Celebration

Our Winter Celebration is set for Friday, 12/20 from 1:30 - 2:15pm in Room 25. Students will participate in a philanthropy project as well as celebrate the winter holidays with light snacks and activities. All parents welcome. More information to come via our creative room parents!

Giving Tuesday = "Giving Back"

Our students had a tremendous time at Giving Tuesday on December 3rd! The Helen Woodward representatives were so pleased with the thoughtfulness, hard work, and spirit of "community" that the children brought to the Center. Our students helped prepare crafts and decorations for the "Frosty Farms event" being held at HWAC this weekend and next. HWAC even brought some festive and furry friends to the party! I hope your child shared with you the sense of fulfillment they got from doing something to help their community! Thank you for your support!
