Circle of Greatness Summer Honorees Recognized
The Aledo ISD recognized its Summer Circle of Greatness Special Honorees on Monday, May 2, surprising employees who exemplify what it means to be Growing Greatness in the district. Through nominations from parents, students, community members and coworkers, the district recognizes throughout the year employees who are nominated for Circle of Greatness. Three times per year (fall, spring and summer), the district honors a top nominee from each category comprised of Professional, Paraprofessional, Auxiliary and Substitute/Guest Teacher employee groups. Among these quarterly winners, one in each category will be named as elite recipients in August at the Aledo ISD Convocation.
Congratulations to Professional category winner Debbie Henrietta, Vandagriff nurse; Paraprofessional category winner Mandi Dietz, special education aide at Walsh Elementary; Auxiliary category winner Mike Mancini, maintenance; and Substitute/Campus Guest Teacher category winner Laurie Harrison at McAnally Intermediate.

Health Curriculum Review
Aledo ISD, along with districts across the state, is currently reviewing health curriculum for adoption and implementation during the 2022-2023 school year. The Texas Commissioner of Education has provided one state-approved option for the Health I high school credit course. Aledo ISD health instructors have reviewed and endorsed these updated materials, and the AISD School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) has reviewed, discussed and endorsed them, as well.
The Aledo ISD would like to offer the opportunity for community members to give feedback on the state-approved health curriculum as we complete this process. If you are interested in viewing these materials, please stop by the Aledo ISD Administration Building between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. the week of May 9-13, 2022.

P2 Character Trait of the Week: Leadership
This week's P2 Character Trait of the Week is Leadership!
Remember P2 has a site set up for families called P2 for Families. It is password protected, but the password is simply P2. This site has all of the Character Cards that we will share each week, plus related and inspiring videos as well as questions for families to discuss around each character strength for ALL 24 character strengths AND broken down by grade bands (PK-2; 3-5; 6-8; 9-12).
See the Leadership Character Card below, and consider using one of these Table Talk questions to start a conversation with your child about Leadership!
LEADERSHIP TABLE TALK for your FAMILY
Grades Pre-K-2: What are some examples of leaders in your life?
Grades 3-5: Who is a leader that you respect? How do they show leadership?
Grades 6-8: In your opinion, what qualities are essential in a successful leader?
Grades 9-12: Do you consider yourself a leader? Why or why not?

Today, we're looking inside McAnally Middle School. From this angle, you'd be standing on the edge of the stage in with the cafeteria in front of you and to the right and the library/media center on the other side of the glass windows. You can see the natural light coming in from a second story walkway at the front of the campus.
Have a student who will be attending the new MMS next year? Go give them a follow on the new McAnally Middle School Facebook page here and follow MMS on Twitter here.
