Thoughts from the Superintendent
For over two weeks now, all metrics used to measure the COVID-19 virus' impact have consistently declined and more people are receiving the vaccine on a daily basis. These are extremely hopeful signs that the worst has passed. However, we still need to remain vigilant about wearing masks and practicing appropriate social distancing parameters to help ensure this decline continues. Students are scheduled to return to our hybrid instructional model on March 1, 2021, and we look forward to students and teachers returning to our schools on a regular basis. Building principals will contact those students and staff returning to in-person instruction with scheduling and logistical information as that date approaches.
The school district is beginning two initiatives that are worthy of mention at this point. We are excited to start the process of moving towards a district-wide Middle States Accreditation for all of our schools, which was previously only done at our two district high schools. This process will afford the school district the opportunity to develop a long-range strategic plan with input from all school community stakeholders and also earn the distinction of being the only district in Middlesex County with District-Wide Accreditation.
Another new program beginning in September 2021, is our Early College partnership with Middlesex College (formerly Middlesex County College), where students will be able to graduate our high schools with both a high school diploma and an associates degree. We will publish more information on our district website about this shortly and cannot wait to share this exciting program with our school community. This is only the beginning of our enhanced dual enrollment projects with Middlesex College, and we look forward to growing all these programs to best meet our students' needs.
As always, we are grateful for all of our community's support in bringing our motto of "Nothing Less than Excellence" to life on a daily basis. Continue to Shine Bright Edison!
