A Note from the School Nurse
Illness:
I think we are finally slowing down on the viral illness! I am hoping we are past the worst of flu season, but please be diligent to keep your student home if they have vomited, had a temp over 100 or just seem to be coughing so much they won't be able to learn. Many of our student's with asthma have struggled with repeated flares due to these virus'. Keep reminding your child to cover their cough and practice good hand hygiene so we limit the spread. Ear infections, sinus infections, pneumonia and conjunctivitis all were possible secondary infections post viral illness this last month. I appreciate that our parents do a wonderful job of keeping sick kids home and following up with the doctor when needed. Thank you!
Clinic Donations:
THANK YOU to the kind parents that donated new underwear and gently used pants. I really appreciate your contributions! If you are cleaning out closets and have pants your child has outgrown, we are happy to put them to good use.
Parents of current 5th grade students:
Immunizations of meningitis and Tdap are needed for the start of 6th grade. Please call the doctor now to schedule an appointment prior to the start of school so that your student will have the shots that Indiana requires for middle school. When you have an appointment date and time, please let me know so that it can be recorded. Requirements are grade level-based, and not dependent on age of students entering 6th grade. Call now for the best availability of appointments.

Bus Evacuation Drills
Dear Parents of Franklin Township,
To ensure the safety of all students, our school bus drivers will be discussing school bus safety and performing the Indiana DOE Required Evacuation Training with our students. Below you will find the schedule for these trainings separated by individual schools.
· Elementary Schools :
§ Adams – Thursday, March 17th approx. 8:40am
It is our goal to prepare your student and our staff members for the unexpected need to safely evacuate a school bus in an emergency situation. The need for this action would only take place if the students were in immediate danger. Each year we practice different scenarios to help us be ready for the unexpected emergency. Please help our efforts by speaking with your child and preparing them for our drill. Students will be instructed to leave any carry-on items in their assigned seat. Please help us the day of their drill by having them wear sensible clothing as they may be instructed to sit down and slide out the rear door while being assisted. They will be required to stand outside for a short period of time. This practice exercise will be handled professionally with the same attention to safety as a school fire drill.
We appreciate your support in this training exercise.
Thank you, Transportation Department
