Dolphin Digest
Weekly Update #5
Week of Sept. 5th
Dear WMES Families,
Happy Friday! We had an amazing week of school! I wanted to thank you for entrusting us with your children and all your support as we embark on a new school year. Thank you to all those who donated extra supplies. We truly appreciate your generosity!
It is important that we keep dismissal routines the same so students know what to expect. If you need to make a bus change, a note must be sent into the school. When changes are made it certainly can create challenges, especially if the change occurs late in the day. Also, we can not make any transportation changes after 2:45 p.m. Thank you for your understanding.
Here is a list of some updates and dates to mark on your calendar:
We will be having our Family Fun Fair on September 9th 5:00-6:30 p.m. We will have free hot dogs and hamburgers, watermelon and water. Also, some of our wonderful community partners will be giving away treats and raffles. You won't want to miss this event!
3. MARK YOUR CALENDARS!! Friday, Sept 30th is our first 1/2 day dismissal. WMES will dismiss at 12:20 p.m. If your child's bus transportation is different than it is on a full day, please provide a note with details, (ie: bus #, address if different than home address and person meeting your student at the bus stop). If your child's car transportation is different than a full day, please provide the name of the person who will be picking your child up in the car rider loop. If they do not have the yellow car rider sign, the student will need to be picked up in the main office and a photo ID is required. If any change needs to be made after school has started on 1/2 days, notification must be made before 11:00 a.m.
We are looking for parents, teachers and community members to nominate a WMES teacher for the Dedicated Dolphin Nomination form. Click on the link to submit a nomination during anytime of the year. Dedicated Dolphin Nomination Form
School Meals
Breakfast will be FREE for all WMES students. This is an important update. Effective August 29, lunch will NOT be free for all students this year unless you qualify. We are encouraging ALL families to complete the FARMS application to see if you qualify. Our school receives funding for this so please complete. Applications need to be filled out on-line. If you need a paper copy, please call the school. Please click the links below for information and to complete the online application.
- Elementary Lunch: $2.65

Another helpful hint for students who are going to be car riders to/from school: Please begin having your child practice buckling and unbuckling their seatbelts. This will foster independence while keeping the car rider line moving quickly!
Bus assignments and pick-up/drop-off times are available in PowerSchool.
Please review our WMES Handbook. WMES will be enforcing the the dress code policy so please review. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1RSkSE3__ECCGdfcdAfdj2W4xR-V7jETRKfwvdoUFzOY/edit?usp=sharing
Any questions, please ask.
I am looking forward to a great school year with your family!
Sincerely,
Kim Seidel, Proud WMES Principal
