22-23 WATCH D.O.G.S. Program

Mark you calendars for September 20th, from 5:30 – 7:00! You won’t want to miss our WATCH D.O.G.S. Kick Off! What is WATCH D.O.G.S. you ask???? WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) is a family and community engagement educational initiative designed and developed by educators, experts and parent volunteers. The program helps provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating, by their presence, that education is important. WATCH D.O.G.S. also provides extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security, reduce bullying and provide a greater sense of campus safety allowing students and teachers to focus on learning.

If you are interested in becoming part of this program, please use the link below to provide contact information. We look forward to having you join us for this exciting program!

Please remember to charge Chromebooks at home and practice passwords, too! We teach the students that they have borrowed devices, so no stickers, rough play, or writing on the Chromebooks! Thanks for reinforcing this at home.

Next week, we will have all students checking out. Students need to go through their first lesson with Mrs. Maddan before checking out. We did it! Books will start coming home - woohoo!

A reminder about a few library policies:

  • We all misplace things every so often. If a child cannot find a library book, I'll ask the grown up at home to sign a paper saying they will look for it. If the book is not found, the signature says the book will be paid for in May. Many times, books appear, so we can solve that problem easily! If the paper is signed, the student can check out books regularly. Money will be collected in May.
  • If a book is damaged, please plan to pay for it right away. The library cannot accept books you purchased because of the library bound books needed. Please send in money to cover the cost of the damaged book.
  • Keep water bottles on the outside of the backpack! Water can ruin library books and Chromebooks!

NATURE TRAILS

Do you love the great outdoors and helping students learn? Then our third and fifth grade Nature Trails might be for you! Sampson third and fifth graders will attend Nature Trails on January 19th (math/sci homerooms) and January 20th (ELAR homerooms). We will need parents at the stations to help facilitate the activities and teach the concepts. Volunteers must be currently trained (year 2021 and up) since the Trails has a completely new curriculum. Please see the following for training details and know we will be coordinating grade level sign ups soon:
