Placement Information Optional for Families
We are at the time of year where we being to think about next year's placement for your student.
The building principal makes the final placement decisions and matches classes with teachers. However, it is important for families to be part of the process. If there is a specific concern or need for your student, that is important to share, such as describing your student's learning style (no teacher names/requests please) or student separations, please let us know by completing the attached form below.
It is important to remember that your student's classroom teacher has worked with your student and their classmates all year and has a strong sense of their best interests for placement.
You are not required to complete this form - as your student's teacher will work with the placement team to determine balanced classes.
If you feel that it is critical to your student's placement process to provide information, this form offers you an opportunity to do so. Family Placement Information SY2024 - 2025: Optional

Millis Public Schools Speaker Series: Kaleb Joseph
Can’t Miss Parent Night Presentation on May 2!
As part of our ongoing Millis Public Schools Speaker Series, please join us on Thursday, May 2nd, at 7pm, in the MHS/MMS auditorium, for a special parent presentation by Kaleb Joseph, founder of the Self Help Tour and a Mental Health Advocate. Kaleb has recently been featured by a number of local and regional media outlets for his impactful presentation, and thanks to a generous grant from the KyleCares Foundation, we are proud to bring him to our Millis school community.
A native of Nashua, NH, who attended Cushing Academy, Kaleb Joseph was one of the nation's top basketball point guard recruits. He went on to play college basketball for his dream school, Syracuse University, but the pressure and expectations of college basketball led him down a dark path of anxiety and addiction. During this powerful parent session on May 2nd, Kaleb will interact with parents to show them how to build deeper connections and relationships with their kids. He equips parents with the tools to manage their kids through all the ups and downs of being a young person. He will talk about the importance of leaning into vulnerability to really strengthen relationships with their children. This will cap off Kaleb’s day in Millis, where he will also speak to MHS students during the school day. We look forward to seeing you on May 2nd, for what promises to be a powerful evening for our school community.
You can learn more about Kaleb through this video recently featured by Good Morning America, and through this video about his Self Help Tour. You can also check out this clip on Instagram from one of his recent parent conversations.

Solar Eclipse
Please see the information from Superintendent Mullaney regarding the Solar Eclipse:
On Monday, April 8th, we will be experiencing a 93% solar eclipse between 2:20 and 4:40 with a peak at about 3:25. Early weather reports indicate it will be a sunny day -until the eclipse. This is an exciting event that will not happen in our area again for 20 years. Please note we will have our regular dismissal schedule on Monday. Some students may still be on their buses during the peak of the eclipse. Staff have been working with students on safety during the event, and we ask that parents and caregivers discuss safety precautions at home. We cannot stress enough to students to not look directly at the sun! Sunglasses do not provide the proper protection. Permanent damage to the eyes can occur if the sun is viewed directly. There are eclipse glasses that provide safety. These glasses must be 12312-2 ISO certified. Only these glasses should be used if looking skyward for any length of time during the eclipse. The NASA website has some resources that may interest families. An interactive map simulation allows you to see the path of the eclipse as well as enter in your zip code (02054!) and see the progress of the eclipse in Millis. There is also a safety page that outlines safe viewing requirements and has DIY viewers that allow students to view the eclipse with the sun at their backs.
The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) also has eclipse resources
We hope that all of our students and families are able to enjoy this rare event while prioritizing safety.
At Clyde Brown - the eclipse will occur during our regular dismissal. School staff will remind students as they leave the building to look downward and not at the sun. School bus drivers will also remind students of this when the depart the school bus.
