Writing
Math
This week we began Topic 7 in Math. We are working on joining numbers (addition). We have done a really great job so far! To practice this at home you can ask your student questions like "If I have 3 pennies and I get 2 more, how many will I have in all?"
Sight Words
We have introduced all of the words on the first 25 list. Please be sure to be practicing these words all the time at home!! If your child is doing great with the first 25 words, move to the second list of 50. If your child is reading that list quickly, work on writing those words as well so that when they go to use them in their writing they are easy for them to remember and write!
Reading
I also sent home a sight word book for you to practice sight word fluency. Please read the pages multiple times! The more they read them, the better they will get. The more they read them, the faster they will get. Reading and re-reading will always help you child learn to read and recognize the words quickly!!

100th Day of School
I will be sending more home next week in your AVID Binder about projects for the 100th Day of school! It is such a fun day!
Monthly Habit-Seek First to Understand, then to be Understood
This month our habit is "Seek First to Understand, then to be Understood"
Things to help your kiddo work on these at home are:
I can listen to what others are saying without interrupting
I can look people in the eye when they are talking
I can listen to other people's feelings and ideas
I can voice my ideas
