East Greenwich Special Education Online Directory (OPTIONAL)
This directory is the same as any you would receive from your classroom teachers. It allows families to meet others in similar situations.
Feel free to add as much or as little information as you would like.
MEET THE TEACHERS
My name is Nicole Macaluso and I have been teaching in East Greenwich for seven years. I teach sixth-grade literacy in a resource setting, as well as small group gifted and talented classes. I have a Master's Degree in Special Education and am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership. I love to learn new things through research and practice. I also love to embrace new challenges. I am passionate about the lives of my students and their personal well-being. Everyone has a unique story and personality. I always look forward to connecting with my new students and learning about current stories and future goals.
Katherine Matteo
Hello! My name is Katherine Matteo. This is my 14th year teaching in East Greenwich Township. I have had the pleasure to teach in both the Samuel Mickle and Jeffrey Clark School. A fun fact is that I was even an EG hornet growing up in the district! I've worked in both the general education setting as well as special education setting throughout my time here. I am currently in the 2nd grade in-class resource setting. I love seeing how much our students grow from September to June!
THANK YOU - DR. TAMMY SINER (PT)
The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines progress as forward movement. Forward movement is a very appropriate term to use as we reflect on Dr. Tammy Siner and her retirement.
Dr. Tammy Siner, physical therapist, has always focused on the big picture. Throughout her career, Tammy has developed ideas and solutions to help her students overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles. Students in Tammy’s care received the most professional, informed care a child and their family could have ever asked for. Having Dr. Siner on the Child Study Team has been such a blessing and helped define our interdisciplinary approach to planning for the whole child.
Every decision Tammy has made in regards to a child’s progress has been developed from the question, “What limits this student’s success the most?” Next, she would solve the limitations that caused barriers to a child’s participation in the school environment. And from there, Tammy set out to make all her students successful, confident, safe and included.
What Tammy leaves behind for the CST, the faculty and students is a wealth of knowledge for helping children obtain their goals and make progress. Tammy is the perfect employee, dedicated, punctual, professional and dependable. Tammy goes above and beyond what a school-based therapist is expected to do. She never complains and always gives 1000 percent.
It’s a great feeling to walk down the hallways and see the miracles happening every day because of her. In our district, Tammy advocates for children gaining access to the buildings and classrooms and promoting inclusion of all students. The number of years in a district are not as important as the legacy a person leaves behind. There are so many rewarding moments. Tammy has given students many skills we take for granted, throwing balls, riding bikes and gaining independence in classrooms and playgrounds. These skills have given many students the ability to establish friendships and become part of the East Greenwich Township Community.
As Tammy moves forward, we wish her love, happiness, peace and the ability to enjoy life to the fullest. She will be missed beyond measure but we can be assured she is moving forward.
WELCOME - DR. ADAM LEE (PT)
The East Greenwich Township School District and the Office Of The Child Study Team welcomes Dr. Adam Lee as the district’s Physical Therapist. Dr. Lee graduated from Seton Hall University's Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Dr. Lee has been a physical therapist for six years and is excited to join East Greenwich as a school based physical therapist.
Dr. Lee states, “As a school based physical therapist, my goal is to have students successfully function throughout the school day. The sessions I complete with them can be challenging to them, so making sure to build relationships with my students is vital to their achievement. My goal is to make them successful students in the classroom, during PE, and on the playground, while learning skills they can carry over to their personal lives. One of the best ways to support my students is to get their families involved. I would stay in contact with families frequently by making myself available through phone calls and emails to share their child’s progress. I would also send home resources for families to work on with their child such as home exercise programs. The home to school connection is a vital part of my students’ growth.”
Dr. Lee has had the opportunity to shadow Dr. Siner for several mornings in May and June. This will help provide a smooth transition for the 2022-2023 school year.
