Aliamanu Middle School --- September 2022
Football practices
Do you want to play football for AMS? You're in luck--we will be starting up the Aliamanu Football Team in September. Practices will be on Mondays and Fridays after school at 3pm. If anyone is interested please see Mr. Otaguro in the PE locker rooms to sign up.
Student field trip to Washington, D.C.
Does your student love debating? Have an interest in government? AMS wants to inspire students to become active participants in our democratic institutions and invites AMS students in good standing to attend a Spring Break field trip to Washington, D.C.
On September 6th at 5:30pm, Aliamanu Middle School will be having a parent information meeting in S2 for families interested in learning more about this field trip opportunity. A representative from the tour provider, Close Up, will be present to answer questions on itinerary, costs, dates and signing up!
Students who go on the field trip will have amazing opportunities like the chance to:
- Get a birds-eye view on our Congress in action
- Debate important issues during a Mock Congress
- Tour Smithsonian museums and make new friends from around the country

Picture Day September 7th- 9th
AMS students will be having their yearbook pictures taken during social studies classes. Picture days will be free dress days for our students. Please see the flier for additional information.
Flag Monitors wanted
Students interested in serving as flag monitors should apply using the google from provided to them from Mrs. Young or contact her in F4. Mrs. Young will then contact interested students to schedule a flag handling training session. Thank you!
AMPAC lunchtime concerts
Aliamanu Middle Performing Arts Club will start our student Wednesday concerts starting September. These concerts allow students to share their talents with classmates during lunch. Interested students should come to Mrs. Combs' room, C4A to sign up and rehearse prior to performing. Mahalo.
Patriotism video/essay contest
To commemorate the 21st anniversary of September 11th, students are invited to submit a 2 minute video or short essay to Patriot.HuntHeroesFoundation.org by September 7th that answer the questions, "What does it mean to be a patriot?" and "How do you show patriotism in your community?" Participants have the chance to win $100. Please see the flier for more information.
4-H Photography Club
The 4-H Photography Club for military-connected students in grades 5-12th meets monthly, every second Tuesday of the month, from 6-7:30pm at the Urban Garden Center in Pearl City. Their next meeting is scheduled for September 13th. Please view the flier for more information.
