A Message from the Principal
I hope this message finds our VIS families well. It is hard to believe we are now well past the mid-point of a school year unlike any other. Though challenges still persist, signs are beginning to point towards a gradual return to normalcy. Our students continue to amaze me with their resiliency and flexibility and I remain optimistic we are ever closer to the opportunity to provide our students with a “pre-Covid” experience.
Your child's Spring Progress Report will be available electronically via SchoolTool in mid-March. Parent/Teacher conferences will be offered on Wednesday, March 17th in the morning and afternoon. Please note that spring conferences are optional. Phone conferences, Zoom conferences, or an email update will be offered as an option in order to provide additional flexibility at a time of year that tends to be very busy for families. Conferences or phone calls will be scheduled for a duration of 15-20 minutes. Your child's teacher will be sending you information regarding how to schedule a conference if you would like to request one. As always, we appreciate your partnership and value these opportunities to discuss student progress.
Mid-March also signifies the end of our second trimester. Similar to last fall, progress reports for students will be available in School Tool Monday, March 15th at 8:00 AM. Directions for accessing progress reports are included below. As our students and staff continue to evolve in their abilities to provide, access, and review assignments through digital platforms, VIS is making a shift in grading for our 100% online learners. So long as these 100% online students have been regularly engaged in Zoom lessons and Google Classroom related assignments, these learners/families can expect to see a progress report format and level of feedback that is similar if not identical to our hybrid learners.
Lastly, VIS staff and students were treated to an engaging and inspiring assembly on February 12th. Performer Jared Campbell spent an hour performing virtually for our students and stressing the importance of positive thinking, growth mindset, and serving others. Given the many challenges of the last year, this performance could not have come at a better time. I’d like to extend my gratitude for the Victor PTSA for supporting this interactive learning opportunity for our students. Families who would like to access Jared’s VIS performance can do so by clicking on his name below:
As always, I appreciate the dedication and support our VIS families provide each and every week. Please do not hesitate to reach out at any time with questions, concerns, or feedback and I hope you and your family continue to be safe and well.
