AMCMS Principal's Office
What is going on in the Principal's Office?
My Challenge to You
Instead of focusing on what we know we will be doing all this week I decided to find something to help us remember why we do what we do as educators. Take a couple of minutes to watch the video above.
What did it make you think about? What have you told yourself to help you get through the tough times that come with being a teacher? What will you continue to tell yourself?
As we know, teaching is so much more than preparing our kids for a state assessment test. Teaching is about preparing students for their future, their life, their possibilities. As you are administering the STAAR test this week be sure to take moments to remember why you do what you do.
Your work matters. Your work makes a difference in the lives of others. You may not always hear it from your kids and their parents but I promise you that you are making a difference. We are shaping the future of our students' lives. That is the work that matters. Always remember that.
Think. Achieve. Succeed.
Jeff

AMCMS SPED Tip of the Week
Finals are around the corner!
As you are wrapping up new instruction and beginning the review process for finals, please keep in mind that our special education students still need their accommodations and modifications provided for them!
Be sure to continue to chunk those lengthy assignments, projects, reviews, and tests. Visuals are always a plus! While we want to save paper, please keep in mind that excessive amounts of information on a page can be overwhelming for struggling learners!
If you need assistance or support with the development of special educatoon-friendly review activities, reviews, and/or finals please visit with Beth Sherry (rm 112) or Rose Norwood (rm 110).
Academic Tip of the Week
As you are preparing for finals that will be here in a couple of weeks I want you to think about taking the final yourself. Once you develop the final, actually sit down and take it. While this seems like a no-brainer, most teachers run out of time or don’t see the need to actually take the test. Taking the final you worked so hard to design can help you spot any confusing questions, sneaky multiple-choice options, or even the occasional misspelling. You’ll also get a sense of your ability to finish the exam thoroughly in the allotted time for finals.
