Cyber Tuesday
September 26th
September
Wow! Where did September go? Lights are never off at the Castle, there are so many events and activities. Please make sure to look at our calendar ( link below) as well as our website calendar. We started to add the same information that is on the Survival Guide calendar to the website one. Please note updates do occur and we will do our best to notify you of the changes.
Today, Monday, September 26th, I appreciate the support and positive feedback we received after sending out the notification of our "secure" mode. No situation is taken lightly and our police commended us for taking the necessary steps to keep our students and campus safe. If we notice suspicious activity, we will act.
October is jammed pack with events, please check the calendar and read the flyers in this newsletter.
Note: Tuesday, November 8, 2022 is an added holiday (no school)
As always, it is an honor to serve you.

This is just one data point we use to learn the skills and knowledge your student is demonstrating.Teachers use this data and other information to target support during the school day and possibly tutorials.

Counselor's Corner
From the Counselor:
In 2018, LISD launched Ask-an-Expert, a video series aimed at helping parents continue crucial conversations with their children at home. Throughout the year, our counselors share their expertise with you, touching on some of the most important issues our students face today.
Talk, listen, and keep the conversation going. #askLISD
What do teachers do when students have an early release day?
This framework is the daily practice at Castle Hills E.S.
It's the BIG ONE!
Now until October 7th!
This once a year fundraiser benefits our students, faculty, school, and the community in so many ways.
Please see the flyer below for more information. Also, there is a fun new incentive this year for all the families donating $100 or more.
These families will receive a CHE sign to put in their yard to show their Dragon Pride. Please see the picture below for what the signs will look like.
There are additional incentives that will be communicated this week. Thank you so much for supporting CHE!

Third Grade Rocks!
Way to go!
Setting Clear Expectations- 1st Grade
In grades K-1, students do not get letter grades but rather a growth scale of 1 - 4.
This is great example for students to know what a score of a 3 (mastery) and a 4 (exceeds) would look like in writing.

iStation- What is it?
How does CHE use iStation?
AT CHE we use the software three times a year (Sept, January, April) to help teachers monitor student growth in grade level skills for reading and mathematics (3rd grade in 2022-23).
This is only one data point, and we use other products/performance to give us a picture of how each child is performing.
We also use iStation's learning activities to help students with skills where growth is needed. Each grade level and classroom uses the activities weekly or daily in the classroom.
This year, iStation will be given three times a year school-wide. Teacher's may give iStation more frequently ( once a month).
You will receive iStation reports (indicated in the Student Survival Guide calendar) with a cover letter to help you understand its meaning.
Tuesday Newsday - Student Folder
On Tuesdays, if there is any information from the class, will be sent home in this folder.
In this week’s Tuesday Newsday folders, students in grades 2-5, who have a current grade average of 75 or below in a content area, will receive a progress report.
This communication is not only to keep you informed of your child’s academic performance, but provides an opportunity to partner with your child’s classroom teacher to see what steps or supports may need to be implemented for your child’s success.
As always, if you have questions about your child’s grades or anything else about their school year thus far, please reach out to your child’s teacher.
Dragon Birthdays!
We give each student a birthday card, signed by Blaze the dragon, and a little gift.
If you do not want us celebrating your child's birthday, please email ramirezs@lisd.net
Pick up and Dismissal
We have extend the drop off and pick up line in the back parking lot in order to alleviate traffic on Avalon.
What if there is no one at the last cone (Where Dr. Mann stands) in the morning or afternoon?
Please continue the practice even if no one is directing you to the cone or at the last cone.
It takes everyone's cooperation to ensure the effectiveness of this system.
