Arched Vaults
Romans created arched vaults. A arched vault is formed to provide a space with a ceiling of roof. Roman baths and other public buildings often had great arched vaults. Concrete was used to help make much bigger arches than anyone ever attempted before.
Mosaic
Romans created mosaics. A mosaic is a picture made of small pieces of tile, glass, or colored stone. Roman artists were skilled because they decorated wealthy families home with mosaics and colorful murals.
Frescoes
Roman frescoes often showed three dimensional landscapes. Looking at a fresco was almost like looking through the wall at view outside. Roman used these for style and luxury in restaurants, banks, and public buildings.
