Deer Valley Unified School District also has Early Kindergarten Entry testing, please see information below or click on this link: Kindergarten / Early Entry Kindergarten (dvusd.org). Please stop by the office anytime during normal hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to pick up a registration packet from Kara or Lisa.
Early Kindergarten Entry
Children who turn 5 between September 1 and December 31, 2021 may be assessed to determine readiness for early entrance into kindergarten. The intent of early entrance is to identify highly capable children who miss the regular September 1 cutoff for kindergarten entrance. Early entry is specifically geared for children whose curriculum achievement level far exceeds the norm. In order to be considered for the early entrance acceptance, the child must exhibit advanced skills in language arts, mathematics, and in social, emotional, and motor development as measured by tests administered by the Deer Valley Unified School District.Mask Expectations

Hello Families,
The theme for quarter three is: Am I making an honest effort?
Our motto this week is:
I find purpose in everything I do.
Connecting to purpose (the why we do the things we do) makes everything better. Purpose moves chores from obligations to meaningful activities. Students who do homework because they want to learn new things perform better and enjoy it more than students who view homework as a waste of time. Finding our why is important.
When we discussed the value of purpose, one 5th grade girl changed her motto from:
My motto was: Doing the dishes is boring and a waste of my time. Then, I changed my motto to: Doing the dishes is necessary and helpful to my mom, since she goes to nursing school."
There is often a good reason we do the things we do and connecting to that reason helps our kids find more value in those activities. It is easy to lose sight of the purpose of our chores and activities. When we do, everything begins to feel like an obligation rather than a contribution because we focus only on the work and not on the work's purpose.
"Activity without purpose is the drain of your life."
-Tony Robbins
Helping our children find the purpose of their activities and chores helps them understand the value of their efforts, encourages them to care more deeply about the quality of their work, and helps them to know that their effort is a contribution to themselves or others.
Purpose is powerful!
Have a great week,
Danna Evans
