BCSC: Quarantine Update, Semester 2
The latest update on COVID cases and quarantines
Dear BCSC families,
We are nearing the halfway point of the school year. This semester started with the hope that things were returning to a more normal, pre-COVID operation, only to experience a setback a few weeks into the school year. Since that time much has happened, including changes in procedures to quarantine students and the arrival of the vaccine for students ages 5-11 for those families who have awaited that option for their children. Through all of it, your support and understanding, even during those times school procedures might not have been aligned with your personal beliefs, has been appreciated. I am proud of our staff, who in these especially challenging times, have far exceeded what most thought possible to continue providing an exemplary education to our students.
Below you will see our last COVID report for the semester. Starting on January 10, these reports will go online at www.brownsburg.k12.in.us/covid-update, bypassing the weekly email communication. The State Legislature will convene in early January and there is already word they plan some modifications and/or elimination of current procedures. Should those changes take place as anticipated, we will communicate those to you.
When our students return on January 4, it will be under “mask optional” guidance. For those families wishing to continue the routine of wearing masks at school, that is an option and choice. Please note the one area we do not have flexibility is on the bus where the federal requirement to wear masks has been extended to March 18. What your children will experience in school, other than the elimination of the mask requirement, will be very much like the first semester (e.g. adjusted schedules at the elementary and middle school levels, lunch seating, etc.). We will track a number of indicators throughout the second semester and very gradually make adjustments to our current routines as it is safe to do so.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during these unprecedented times.
Sincerely,
Jim Snapp
Superintendent
