Welcome to Little School

Our students have had a wonderful few days! We are so proud of how they are doing in new situations with new friends and teachers. We want to take a moment to thank you for your support of our teachers. From the compliments, to the small gifts, to the homemade pictures our teachers have been receiving, it all really means a lot. My teachers are incredibly dedicated and caring individuals. Thank you for your partnership and support.

Here are a few reminders.

1) If your child is in Aftercare, please do not forget a blanket, a soft item, and a snack. They take a rest time and do an extra snack during Aftercare.

2) Mornings with Mom is a new event coming up at the end of September. Moms (or any special adult if Mom is unavailable) will come into the building and have a special breakfast and activity with their child in the building. Teachers will send out more information later. Don't worry Dads, we have Dad's Saturday coming up in February.

3) There is still some space in our Fun Friday program. Use this link to sign-up:

Pumpkin Patch!

St. Luke's United Methodist Church is well known for our pumpkin patch! The pumpkin patch is run by the Youth Group of the church. All proceeds they make on the pumpkin patch go toward the youth's mission trip expenses in the summer of 2023. Our classes will go to the pumpkin patch throughout late September and October. Your teachers will let you know when it is their day to go. Each child will get their own pumpkin to take home. The patch will be open in the morning and afternoons for you to purchase pumpkins as well. There are some guidelines I like to ask parents to follow when the pumpkins arrive. Since the pumpkins are a fundraiser for our youth group at the church, we ask that you do not damage the pumpkins. Every damaged pumpkin results in less money our youth can use to fund their mission trips. Please do not allow your child to pick up pumpkins or sit on pumpkins. You are more than welcome to walk around the patch and take pictures, but please do not do anything that could potentially damage them. Thank you for supporting our youth ministries, and happy Pumpkin Pickin'!

September Chapel Theme

This month our director, Ms. Kelly, and her special helper, Ms. Nancy, will teach the kids about the story of creation using Mr. Z and the Sandford Harmony Curriculum. Here is a link to learn more about the program. https://online.harmonysel.org/

Handwashing Video

We could use some help with teaching kids handwashing! Here is a video we use, and we would love if you can show it at home and reinforce the steps at home too. Thank you!!!

Amazon has a really neat handwashing timer we use here at Little School too. You can purchase it for your home too. Here is the link.

Music Team News

We are so excited to welcome our Little School musicians this year! We look forward to making not only lots of fun music, but also many great memories. The first week in music, we’ve focused on learning names by putting them in a song (“Here We Are Together”), and by talking about the different ways that children get to school, including the bus (“Wheels on the Bus”). Ask your child to share the song, “Put your Bumper on Your Circle “ to the tune of, “If You’re Happy and You Know It.” Mid-September will include songs and poems with an “All About Me” theme, as well as “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands,” which is our chapel song for the month. We’ll sing about apples and also farms, with “Old McDonald,” “I Know a Chicken” (done with shaker eggs), and “Did You Feed My Cow?”
We, as your music team, would like to thank you for sharing your children with us at Little School. They are such a joy to work with in music, and we love them.
