Magnesium is a metal, it is found in multiple minerals, and is considered an Earth metal. In fact, because of what group it is in, that is where the "Earth metals" get their name. It is in group 2 and period 3. It is used to help prevent magnesium deficiency, laxative for constipation, preparation bowel for surgical or diagnostic procedures and used as a antacid for acid indigestion.
The atomic number for magnesium is 12 and the mass is 23.405. The element symbol is "Mg." It has 12 protons and about 12 neutrons as well. Two elements that are similar are Aluminum and and Chlorine. The bohr model has three rings.
