The capital of Peru is Lima. The 2 major cities in Peru are Arequipa and Callao. Peru was once controlled by Spain. They gained independence on July 28, 1821 and now it's no longer controlled by a country. Peru's official language is Spanish but they also speak Quechua and Aymara.
