Some important information for this week....
Back Parking Lot Safety
A big thank you to all the parents who are safely parking outside of the no parking zones close to our school. Many people are now using the back parking lot to drop off and pick up children. Please be aware that the fence line in the parking lot that is closest to the school is a NO PARKING zone. This is to allow a place for students to safely walk along the fence to waiting cars, and also gives enough room for cars to back up out of parking spots. Please do NOT park along the fence line. We are increasing supervision in this area in the short term, in order to ensure the safety for all.
The Big Crunch
This Thursday, the local Health Unit and local media will be joining us at Kawartha Heights as we participate in the Big Crunch. The Big Crunch is an opportunity to promote healthy eating Canada-wide, as schools across the country participate in all taking a bite out of an apple (or a bite out of healthy eating!) at the same time. Please look for more information on Edsby, Twitter and Instagram.
Crestwood Intermediate Transition Committee update
This past Thursday the Crestwood transition committee met for the first time. The committee consists of the Superintendent, principals, parents (like myself) and Grade 6, and 7 students of all the schools that are affected.
At this meeting we came up with issues that could arise from the move and questions all of the parties involved had. With this data, the board will now collaborate and make a list of frequently asked questions (with answers) that will be viewable on the kpr website.
A message will be sent to the Grade 6 families next week through School Messenger on how to find this information, so be sure to look for it in your email or online. We have 3 more scheduled meetings - one later this month, one in April, as well as one in June. I will keep you updated as I know more. Looking forward to all the exciting things to come for our children.
Andrea Grant
(Parent council member and parent of grade 6 student)
New Doors are on the way!
Over the March Break, two new sets of doors will be installed - one beside Mrs. Rees' room and one at the main entrance to the gym. Both of these doors will be wheelchair accessible. These are great improvements to our building overall - so look for some new fancy doors upon your return from the break!
Happy March Break!
Just a reminder that March Break begins this Friday, March 13th. Have a wonderful break and we look forward to seeing everyone back at Kawartha Heights on Monday, March 23rd.
