Cullman City Schools
The Week in Review - November 2, 2018
Support Cullman City Schools
CCS has partnered with Leanstream to help support our teachers and their needs. Leanstream is our online resource to browse and donate to education needs and projects posted by Cullman City Schools' teachers. Check out the Free Wifi on the Go program that is available when you donate. The Corporate Matching option is also a great opportunity. Go directly to our Leanstream site.
CMS Robotics Success
The CMS Robotics Team finished 3rd at Wallace State in the BEST Robotics Event. They also won first place, and were awarded a plaque, for their t-shirt design. Congratulations CMS students!
Student Satisfaction
That feeling you get when your computer code works on a code.org activity. Mrs. Drake joined Mrs. Speciale's students at EES to introduce the Computer Science principles of looping, nesting loops, if/then statements and more.
Count on Me
This week our kindergarten and 1st grade teachers collaborated to create counting collections for their classrooms! These collections will help students build number sense and counting skills!
U.S. Attorney's Office Brings Important Information to Our Students
CMS had special visitors this week. We are thankful to the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama for presenting to CMS students about opioid addiction during our Red Ribbon Week!
"Dem Bones"
The timing could not have been better for the culminating activity in Mrs. Hollingsworth's class at WES . Skeletal system displays make the perfect Halloween decoration.
Empowering PD at CHS
CHS faculty and staff used our half-day professional development on Wednesday to provide sessions led by our own teachers. There were numerous sessions provided by teachers with expertise in the areas to be covered. The outcome of this style of PD was a sense of empowerment for both the presenters and the attendees.
Squid Read
These students in the Shark Class at CCPS are reading fiction and non-fiction book pairings about squids. Great strategy to inspire young readers.
CMS FFA at National Convention
Congratulations to the CMS FFA team for their 3-Star National Chapter Award presented at the recent FFA National Convention.
Legos and 3D Printed Objects Invade Pyramid Projects
These students in the CHS Mythology 2 class created a great pyramid from Legos. Opening the pyramid reveals some detail work inside.
This 3D printed hand gave an interesting perspective to another mythology project.
Veterans Honored
As we move into November many of us are reminded, more than usual, about the service and sacrifice of our veterans. With the national holiday set aside to honor our veterans approaching, all of our schools will be taking time to recognize and honor these heroes. The murals below can be seen on the campus of CMS. Please take time to ride by and see the wonderful work done by CMS art students led by Fharis Richter.
