To Survive a Zombie Apocalypse...

A complete guide to surviving a dreaded zombie apocalypse

Canadian Shield

The Canadian Shield is a region that contains hills worn by erosion, hundreds of glacier-carved lakes, and some of the oldest rock formations in North America. It is located below the border of Canada and the US, and wraps around the southern parts of the Hudson Bay and the Great Lakes. It even looks like a shield, horseshoe shaped.

An important feature in this region is the Great Lakes. These famous lakes were made by glaciers. They are important to those who live there because they provide transportation, food, and fun.

I rated the Canadian Shield a 4 in case of a zombie apocalypse because it doesn't have a lot of vegetation, or plants to eat and/or make shelter out of. Some positive things about this region include rocks to hide behind and lakes to cross and escape an infestation.

Great Plains

The Great Plains are home to flat lands that gradually increase in elevation westward and are known for grasslands. The plains attracted many native american tribes including the Crow and Otoe Indians because of its buffalo. The Great Plains are located west of the Interior lowlands and east of the Rocky Mountains.

The Great Plains have vast flat lands that go for miles on end. They are fertile, animal-filled plains that gradually increase in elevation westward.

I rated the Great Plains with a 6 in case of a zombie apocalypse because it doesn't have a lot of places to hide, and there's not many trees to make shelter out of. Some positive things about this region include wildlife, vegetation, and lots of flat space to make traps/survival huts.

Rocky Mountains

The Rocky Mountains are rugged mountains with high elevations. They are younger and taller than the Appalachian Mountains. It also contains the continental divide. The Rocky Mountains are located west of the Great Plains and east of the Basin and Range. The mountains run from Alaska to New Mexico.

Rugged mountains are key features in this region. The mountains are taller and younger than those on the east side of North America. After the last ice age, humans started to inhabit the range.

I rated the Rocky Mountains with an 8 in case of a zombie apocalypse because it doesn't have a lot of vegetation, and it's easy to get hurt climbing mountains. Some positive things about this region include wildlife and lots of hiding spots because of varying elevations.

Basin and Range

The Basin and Range region varies in elevation containing isolated mountain ranges. This region is also home to Death Valley, the lowest point in North America. The Basin and Range region is located west of the Rocky Mountains and eat of the Sierra Nevada's and the Cascades.

Death Valley holds the lowest, driest, hottest area in North America. The highest recorded temperature in the world took place at Furnace Creek, Death Valley, Nevada. The temperature exceeded 130 degrees Fahrenheit.

I rated the Basin and Range with an 8 in case of a zombie apocalypse because it's climates are very severe compared to what I'm used to. Some positive things about this region include wildlife, vegetation for nutrition and building supplies, plus lots of hiding spots because of varying elevations.
