Wilson Words SEPTEMBER
35 YEARS OF GREATNESS
Safety 1st
Our most important role as a staff is to provide a safe and conducive learning environment for our students. As a campus, we have revisited many of our safety measures here at Wilson and have made decisions to tighten up on our safety protocols. In the 2018 - 19 school year, we will continue to enforce that all visitors report to the front office for entry, sign in at the front desk with an I.D. and receive a badge stating their purpose of visitation. As of, Monday, March 5, 2018, upon exiting the campus, all visitors, must report back to the front office to turn in their sticker before leaving, this will continue in the 2018-19 year. The faculty and staff have been spoken to about not propping open any doors and being visible during heavy transitions, like morning arrival and dismissal. We are encouraging our students to report any safety concern to the nearest adult here at school, so that we can address it right away.
Our campus will be conducting monthly fire drills and crisis drills, one in the first and second semester. Our first fire drill, weather permitting will be on Thursday, Sept. 6th and crisis drills will be conducted on Sept. 7th.
As a school we will regularly monitor the needs of our school regarding school safety and security and be vigilant in awareness and visibility.
Our school community is so important to us. We appreciate your support and understanding that any adjustments made to our campus or district safety measures are not intended to keep our families, parents or guardians out of our school. Our goal is to make every attempt to keep our students and staff safe.
Campus Highlights -
What a fabulous start to a new school year. We had an amazing 1st week of school. We are so excited to have our students back. I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for your patience and your support to our campus. We appreciate our parents for understanding, respecting and supporting the process, procedures, routines and systems that are put in place.
We are excited about taking our students to new heights and stretching ourselves towards greatness. We are training our students on what it means to have a Growth Mindset and how mistakes help us to become better. Our entire school has accepted the challenge of a growth mindset.
