Business Support for New High School Continues
The Owatonna Public School District announced today that another local business, Gopher Sport, has joined Mayo Clinic Health Systems, Viracon, Wenger Corporation, Wenger Foundation and Federated Insurance in support of a new high school for Owatonna.
Gopher Sport has said that if the referendum passes on May 14, they want to contribute equipment to ensure students at the high school have more opportunities to be physically active throughout the school day.
Gopher Sport would contribute a meaningful amount of high quality equipment for the school’s physical education program, fitness room, STEM Makerspace classes, and outfit classrooms with active seating and active work stations.
These gifts to the district are made possible through their Gopher, STEM-Supplies and Moving Minds brands.
“Gopher Sport has been in the Owatonna community since 1947 and we have a commitment to give back to our community. If the referendum passes on May 14, we would be delighted to support the new high school with innovative equipment that will help the students enjoy more active and healthy lives,” stated Todd Jennings, CEO of Gopher Sport.
“We continue to be thankful for the generosity of our local businesses and continue to be amazed by the pride felt by all who live and work within our community,” stated Jeff Elstad, Superintendent of Owatonna Public School District.
The Owatonna school board unanimously set May 14, 2019, as the special election date for a vote on issuing general election bonds to build a new Owatonna High School.
