Book Creator for iPad
Tips and Tricks for DPCDSB iPad users
1. Start a new book!
2. Choose a layout for your book
Note: It is essential that all students choose the same book shape if the teacher later wants to combine student submissions into one large book.
3. Design the cover
4. Add items to your page
Tap the + button in the top right corner and add:
- Photos from the camera roll or internet
- Camera pictures
- Pen drawings
- Text
- Recorded voice or sound
5. Adjust or edit your additions
Touching any photo or text surrounds it with a blue box.
Photos can be resized using the corner of the blue box.
Text, once selected, can be edited by pressing the inspector button and changing colour or font. Use the slider to chage text size.
When using the camera or sound option, it is important for the student to allow the camera or microphone to be used by the Book Creator app.
If a student fails to allow this, one can still enable these features in the general settings of the iPad.
6. Continue on a new page
7. Save your book
In the top left corner, tap "My Books" to see your saved books.
Your book will need a title and author.
Tap the inspector button at the bottom of the page to edit the book title and author information. You can delete a book here as well.
8. Exporting books
In Dufferin-Peel, we will have to export our books to print them or use them off the iPad.
From the "My Books" page, tap the Share icon.
Export as ePub to Airdrop to another iPad - This is essential for combining books.
Export as Video - and then Save Video - to get the book to the camera roll.
To get the book to iBooks, Export as Epub - then Open In - then Copy to iBooks.
From the Photos - or Camera Roll
A book saved to the Camera Roll (as a video) can be attached to an email and sent to oneself, or to a teacher.
Teachers have a more generic email - name.lastname@staff.dpcdsb.org a student could use.
Students all have - name.lastname@student.dpcdsb.org to use.
A large book (video) can be sent by going to www.wetransfer.com on the iPad and attaching the video and again emailing it to an address.
