LEVELING CLASSES & TEACHER CHANGES
Due to our current enrollment numbers and to a teacher shortage our nation is experiencing, we will be making adjustments to some of our grade level classrooms. We ask for your patience as we make the necessary moves to accommodate the needs of our campus and district. Please note that if your child transitions to a new class or receives a new teacher, we want you to know that we are aware how hard change is and often is all based on factors, often out of teachers' and/or campus control. Yet, we will ensure that our two counselors work closely with all who are affected by the upcoming moves.
Respectfully,
Keisha Womack
SCHOOL STARTS AT 8:05AM
SCHOOL HOURS
School hours: 8:05 - 3:25pm
Free Breakfast: 7:35am Announcements: 8:00am TARDY BELL: 8:05am
Dismissal: 3:25pm Transportation Change Cut off: 2:30pm
Tardies - Your child is tardy if they arrive after 8:05am. Instruction starts promptly at 8:05am. If your child arrives after 8:05am - you must park and sign your child's tardy pass in order for them to go to class.
Early Pick Ups - Parents must sign students out with valid ID and provide a reason for leaving.
Please be mindful that we are required by law to be in attendance for at least 75,600 minutes of instruction, including intermissions and recess. Early Pickup Cut Off is 2:30pm.
Transportation Changes - All transportation changes must be done by 2:40pm each day. We will not take any transportation changes over the phone. You may fax your request with a copy of your ID to 281-891-8751 and call to confirm receipt. Or, you may call the front office to speak with one of our receptionists and then email your request with your ID to the person you spoke with, by 2:30pm.
Absences - If your child misses a day, please provide a note informing the attendance clerk, the reason for the absence, sign and date and send it to school with your child, the following day. Parent letters are not required if your child has a doctor's excuse. Parents have 3 days to send in excuses so that attendance records can be resolved into excused/unexcused absences. Remember that notes only provide us the documentation and coding of the absence: Notes do not dismiss absences. The state requires students to be in attendance 90% of the time to avoid penalty.
Lunch Visits/Lunch Deliveries - Booker is closed for lunch visits and lunch deliveries. If your child forgets his/her lunch kit, please drop off their lunch kit in the front office before 9:45am, to ensure our staff has ample time to deliver it to them before their scheduled lunch time. Lunch visits are on hold to allow our teachers, staff, and students to get acquainted with being back in school and establishing our systems and routines, Lunch visits are scheduled to resume the week of September 20th, pending recommendations from Harris County/CDC. Please stay tuned!
Birthdays - You are more than welcome to celebrate your child's birthday by sending prepacked goodies and/or store bought cupcakes (sealed) with your child. No balloons or bouquets allowed.

AFTER 8:06AM - STUDENTS ARE LATE & MUST HAVE A SIGNED TARDY SLIP BY THE PARENT
LATE BUSES
We want to say thank you for your patience with the late buses. Transportation is steadily working on securing more bus drivers and finalizing routes. We do understand the inconvenience of a late bus, but we ask for your patience. Often, the campus is unaware of which bus is running late or which bus will have to loop back to pick up another route. With the Transportation having to run for 26 elementary schools, it is extremely difficult for them to answer our calls, as well. So, we are often just left waiting for several buses, unaware of their arrival. We definitely know it's frustrating, but just ask that you give Transportation another week or so to work out the kinks with the shortage of bus drivers and also the new safety protocols below:
ZPASS badge scan
Sanitizing their hands upon entry
Seating only 2 students per seat
