Picture Day!

Please have your students dress in Sunday best attire. Order forms came home this week and should be returned with payment on picture day for your child to hand to the photographer. OR you can easily order and pay online by visiting the Van Gogh School Photographers website. Our School Code is 20031601. If you order online, there's no need to send anything else with your children on Picture Day--well except for their smiles, of course!

Pie in the Face Fundraiser Fun

Several of our faculty have accepted the Pie in the Face Challenge to raise funds! Raffle tickets will be sold daily next week during the 1/2 hour before school starts and at Frankfest, and purchasers will put their tickets in the bucket of the teacher they would most like to see get a pie in the face. At Frankfest, whichever participant has the most tickets in their container by 7:00 p.m. will be the happy recipient--and the pie will be put in her face by the person whose name is on the back of one ticket drawn from her bucket. Already signed up to participate: Mrs. Rojas, Mrs. Hess, Mrs. Alderfer, Mrs. Kingzette, Mrs. Drzod, Mrs. MacFarlane, Mrs. Fosle, Mrs. Sypole, and Ms. Fugman. Tickets will be one for $2, three for $5, seven for $10, and 15 for $20.

We were very excited to welcome our newest addition to the SAS family this week! Mrs. Nicole Fosle will be teaching 5th grade, and she's also a school parent. Read more about her and the rest of the faculty on the school website.

We discovered several years back that the Thursday Envelope was a very efficient means of delivering necessary information and forms into parents' hands. Rather than having to search the bottom of the bookbags every day in case something important might be there, you can expect that the bulk of our communiques will come home neatly on one day in one big manila envelope. The envelopes come home with the youngest member of the family enrolled at SAS. We do need each parent to remove the contents, sign and date the front, and return those envelopes the next day so that you will be able to receive the next week's delivery. Please do not send anything BACK to school in the envelope--it is one way communication only, and no one at the office or in the classroom checks to see if there is anything inside. So your hot lunch forms, permission slips, or notes to the teacher will sit there unnoticed and likely return to you the next week. Should your Thursday Envelope be lost or damaged, please notify the office immediately. Thank you!

Having a Heat Wave

Please be assured that on extra hot days, teachers have several air-conditioned areas to which they may move their classes, including the lower level of the school building, Extended Day/Teacher's Lounge, and the Church. We also supplement with popsicles and recommend that the children bring water bottles to stay hydrated. We love our old building for all its character, but yes, some of its systems are aged and cannot handle the increased load that a/c in every room would place on it. We look forward to the cooler days of autumn for sure!

Schoolbelles Update

Schoolbelles would like everyone to know that orders for uniforms that have already been placed will be going out within a few days--they appreciate your patience. If anyone else needs to order, please call them at 708-929-4695, tell them you are from St. Ann School Lansing, and your items will be shipped to your home free of charge.

Please Stand By

We are aware that there are issues with Powerschool, and Mrs. Summerrise is working diligently to rectify them. Also, we have begun distribution of the Chromebooks to 4th-8th grades, so Google Classroom should be available soon. Thank you for your patience!

September Box Tops Challenge

We are very excited to launch our Box Tops for Education program for the year. Our goal is to raise $1000 for SAS, 10 cents at a time! Our first challenge: the student from EACH grade who brings in the MOST Box Tops by September 30 will win a Dairy Queen gift card. That means there will be 10 WINNERS this time! Collection sheets and baggies came home in the Thursday Envelope this week. Please trim your Box Tops neatly and attach to the collection sheet (tape or glue, no staples, please). Additional collection sheets are available on the website, or you may paste on any paper or send them in loose in the baggie. Be sure to write your child’s name and grade on all submissions. Visit Box Tops for Education for more details and ways to earn Box Tops, including the latest Daily Entry Sweepstakes.

All boys and girls in 4th grade and older are invited to become Altar Servers! Right now, we are gathering the names of interested kids, and we will schedule a training for sometime soon. After training, new Altar Servers must shadow the "pros" three times, and then they will be added to the schedule. Families are allowed to stipulate which Mass time they prefer (4:00 Saturday, 8:30 or 10:30 Sunday), and every month you have the opportunity to exclude dates when you are unavailable. Our Sunday servers who attend SAS will also have the opportunity to serve the weekly school masses. An interest form came home this week. Please have your children return them to their religion teachers if they would like to join the Altar Servers.

Did you know you can save the codes from your favorite Coca Cola products and donate them to SAS? Inside the cardboard cases and plastic bottle tops are codes that you can enter at the Coca Cola Give website on our behalf. Click on Donate to Your Local School, type in 60438 in the search bar, and find St. Ann School - Lansing in the drop down menu (you may need to hit Load More at the bottom of the list to find us). Then simply enter the codes you find in the bottle caps and cardboard cases of your Coke products. Ask friends and family to save their Coke codes for you, too. Thank you!
Visit our Facebook page to see additional photos. We are happy to publish any pictures you would care to share as well! Email them to, or post them on our private parent page, St. Ann Friends.
