Swansboro Elementary
February 9, 2020
Good evening Pirate Families! Congratulations to our All County Honors Chorus for a job well done this past Saturday. This week kicks off with 3rd grade AIG testing, Feb. 10th-13th. You are all invited to our first grade concert and art show this Tuesday at 6 pm in our multipurpose room. After the show, swing by and pick up dinner at Papa John's and a portion of your sale will go back to our school. Wednesday morning at 7 am we will have our monthly Strategic Planning meeting. Thursday will be an early release day which means that car riders will be dismissed at 12:05, walkers at 12:15 and bus riders will arrive at destinations 3 hours earlier than usual. Students will have lunch on a modified schedule, so please plan accordingly. Thursday night is our Frosted Spirit night from 3-7 pm. Due to new hours of operation, our Frosted Spirit night will now be the 2nd Thursday of the month. Friday is Valentine's Day and we will have some visitors from our military adopt a school program. We are grateful for our partnership with the 2nd Regiment Headquarters Company. Monday, February 17th is a Teacher Workday, so there is no school for students. Please remember that flowers, balloons and other large items are difficult for our students to carry with all their school stuff and are not allowed on school buses, so it may be best to exchange gifts at home. For student celebrations, please remember to be inclusive and all food brought in should be store bought and in the original, sealed packaging. This is for everyone's safety. Also, please go ahead and send in box tops. The deadline is Feb. 26th and the class with the most box tops wins a dance party. Please make sure that you are following traffic signs while on campus. The first entrance along the tree line and the entrance to the large loading/unloading lot are for entering only. The middle road is for exiting only. Please help us keep our students healthy by abiding by the OCS Policy. Students should be fever free (under 100 degrees) and free of vomiting and diarrhea for 24 hrs. without medication before returning to school.
Turn in BOX TOPS now!

A few reminders...
* Don't forgot that you can also nominate a teacher for our Teacher of the Month by clicking on the link on our school's website or completing a paper nomination in the main office.
* Due to a growth in student population, we no longer have room in our cafeteria to accommodate lunch guests. If you come to eat lunch with your student, you will have to eat outside in the courtyard. Please check the weather before making lunch plans.
* The OCS policy states that students must be fever free without medication as well as no vomiting and/or diarrhea for 24 hours before returning to school. Tis' the season, so please remind your child to wash hands frequently, cover their coughs, and keep hands out of their mouth. We will be reminding them here at school as well and hopefully we can get through cold/flu season with minimal sickness.
* Our no check out zone is from 2:55-3:15 and we do not accept changes in transportation over the phone. This is for your child's safety. Please send in a note and a follow up email to your child's teacher is helpful as well. Just as students don't always give you paperwork from the school, they also sometimes forget to turn in notes from home.
