CROC TALK BRIEF

Nancy Ryles Elementary Newsletter ~ February 4, 2022

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE by MONICA ARBOW

Dear Crocodile Families,

It’s hard to believe that we are entering into the second semester of the school year, the halfway point! This is an exciting time of year, because we begin to see students take off with their learning. This year is no different, even with the challenges that we have faced. Students are making progress and thriving. I am grateful that we have been able to navigate through the first half of this school year despite COVID illness, ever-changing COVID protocols, and massive sub shortages. I am optimistic for the second semester and looking forward to continued growth, learning, and of course, JOY.

This week, we recognized the Lunar New Year. Year 2022 is the Year of the Tiger, which symbolizes bravery, wisdom, and strength. More than just the beginning of a new calendar year, the Lunar New Year is seen as a time of reunion and rebirth, marking the end of winter and start of spring. This week, we also recognized the start of Black History Month. As educators, we strive to incorporate a variety of cultural voices, stories, authors, and accomplishments all throughout the year. This month, we shine a spotlight on Black lives in honor of Black History Month.

I hope you can join us for our NRCO meeting this Tuesday night! See below for more details about our guest speaker who is providing at-home parenting tips for families.

With appreciation,

Monica Arbow

Principal

GUEST SPEAKER: Tuesday, February 8th at 7pm

We will welcome back guest speaker Megan Barella for another session in her series: "Smooth Sailing Ahead: For Busy Families." Didn't catch the first session? Don't worry! Each session is structured to attend individually, no need to attend all three sessions. We hope to see you there.

National School Counseling Week

National School Counseling Week 2022 (#NSCW22) is Feb. 7-11, 2022, to focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems. National School Counseling Week, sponsored by ASCA, highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career. National School Counseling Week is always celebrated the first full week in February. The 2022 theme is School Counseling: Better Together.

Let's show our appreciation for our very own counselor, Vicki Charbonneau. We appreciate all that she does for our students and families.
