The West Linn-Wilsonville School Board held a public meeting on Monday, June 7. The following are highlights from that meeting.

Final Regular Board Meeting for Directors Regan Molatore, Ginger Fitch, Dylan Hydes

The June 7 Meeting marked the final regular meeting for School Board Directors Regan Molatore, Ginger Fitch, and Dylan Hydes. Their terms expire June 30. The District will recognize each director for their many contributions at the Board's Work Session on June 21. Thank you, WLWV School Board Members!

Board Announces Two Long Range Planning Committee Vacancies

Two members of the Long Range Planning Committee will finish their current terms on June 30, leaving two vacancies for interested community members to apply.


The Long Range Planning Committee is a seven member citizen committee responsible for guiding the development of the Long Range Plan, that provides a rational framework for evaluating and addressing future school facility needs as the West Linn and Wilsonville areas grow. Interested community members can learn more about the Long Range Planning Committee on the district website.


INTERESTED COMMUNITY MEMBERS ARE INVITED TO APPLY TODAY


The deadline to apply for the Long Range Planning Committee is July 30, 2021. These are three year positions. Current members whose position is expiring may re-apply.


Thank you to Kim Jordan and Grady Nelson for their service on the Long Range Planning Committee. Kim and Grady served on both the Long Range Planning Committee and Bond Oversight Committee, helping to guide the most recent update of the district's Long Range Plan ahead of the 2019 Capital Bond.

Board Adopts Budget for 2021-22 School Year

The West Linn-Wilsonville School Board adopted the 2021-22 Budget during the June 7 meeting. The budget adoption is the culmination of a budget process that began with the Budget Committee in May. The Budget Committee approved the budget during the May 17 Budget Committee Meeting before it was presented to the School Board for official adoption.

Bond Oversight Committee Presents 2021 Q1 Report

Bond Oversight Committee Member Kim Jordan provided the School Board with a review of the 2021 Quarter 1 Report, highlighting current and upcoming construction work as part of the 2019 Capital Bond.


Construction is well underway at several school locations, with more than $63 million already committed to bond projects. Some of the construction work taking place this summer includes:


  • Security and Building Renovations at the current Athey Creek Middle School site in preparation for the district's third option high school.
  • Expansion of the West Linn High School Stadium and additional parking.
  • Facility improvements at several schools, including renovations to Wood Middle School and Willamette Primary.

Board Recognizes BARWE Teachers for Organization of Vaccination Clinic, CREST for Hosting Outdoor School

The Board recognized West Linn-Wilsonville BARWE teachers (Building Anti-Racist White Educators) for their efforts in organizing a district vaccination clinic open to the entire community. More than 600 members of the community received vaccinations on May 22, with a second clinic scheduled for June 12.


The Board also recognized CREST staff for hosting Outdoor School this year, combining virtual, at-home, and in-person learning activities for students. Outdoor School included many guest presentations from community partners such as the Oregon Zoo and Audobon Society.
