Virtue of the Month: Generosity
Gators, this month's virtue is Generosity. Generosity is giving of yourself unselfishly. Although you may think first of generosity in monetary terms, often non-monetary gifts, such as time, encouragement, hope, laughter, hospitality, service, and forgiveness, may have the most value.

Students have been learning about atomic theory and structure and over the past couple weeks. We've taken a journey into the atom to better understand the significance and relevance of each subatomic particle, and they have gotten practice building atoms, isotopes, and ions using digital simulations and games.
Next, students will be making their very own periodic table for the science notebooks and getting the chance to explore a specific element of their interest in a fun element poster project.
Willard
Currently 6th graders in History are studying the Ancient Hebrews and the orgins of Judaism. Key stories and characters of the Abrahamic faiths like Abraham as well as Moses and the Exodus are explored as well.
Gray
December is all about Ancient Hebrews in 6th grade history. Students will be learning about the origins of one of the world's major monotheistic religions and the important geography and achievements of Ancient Israelites. We will also be comparing and contrasting the development of monotheism, in a time when surrounding people were polytheistic.
Students will continue with their weekly vocab assignments in my class in addition to other classwork. We will have our first quiz for this unit on Friday, December 8th and our unit test on Tuesday, December 19th.
Fairley
We just finished up indoor soccer in our class and the students seemed to love the sport. We will be moving on to a games unit where we will have all of the classes combined and teams will be intermixed throughout the classes. Teams will compete in a new game each day to accumulate points to crown a champion at the end of the unit.

After an exciting end to November (the chicken wing dissection lab) we will be finishing up our unit on Metabolism. We will focus on the molecules our cells need to make energy during cellular respiration. If all goes well, students will be finishing off the semester by writing a children's book explaining homeostasis of the human body.

English 7 classes are doing a science fiction thematic unit that includes short stories by Ray Bradbury, articles about robots, and even a little bit of the iconic Twilight Zone. They are focusing on making claims and finding evidence with reasoning (CER).To conclude the unit, they will bring their own science fiction characters to life by writing a short story of their own.

Students are reading a collection of stories from our book, "Look Both Ways". Next week, students will be writing an essay about themes present in these stories. Then, we will continue with the second half of the book. For every story, students describe the main and supporting characters, summarize, identify a theme, and make a personal connection to the story.
