2nd Grade News - Friday, September 16th
Monday is Johnny Appleseed Day!
2nd Grade is going to celebrate Johnny Appleseed Day on Monday, September 26th! We will learning all about Johnny Appleseed while also practicing second grade skills relating to all subject areas! Students will be rotating to each teacher throughout the day to participate in these different activities!
We are asking that each student bring AT LEAST one apple for the fun activities! If you feel compelled to send in more, we would love that too! :)
Finally, we are asking that our second grade students wear a plaid shirt on Monday with their uniform bottoms (NO JEANS!) or their Plaid uniform dress or skirt to make it even more exciting and realistic! :)
This is going to be a very FUN Monday!
Important Information:
1. Homework is coming home today!
I am so proud of the work on 2nd graders are doing on their homework packets! A new packet is coming home today. We recommend doing a few pages per night! Remember... if you need to print an extra copy, please look in your child's MATH SECTION on FSAconnect to print off the scanned copy!
2. FSAconnect:
I am currently uploading grades and assignments! If you cannot see anything posted, please email NTuran@fultonscienceacademy.org !
3. AR LOGS/ REFLECTIONS for September:
We have one more week of September! I am proud of how hard my students have been working on their reading logs & reflections. Each students has completed their chapter book reflections, and most students have already completed all three! I am very proud. Students have until Friday to complete all three, so remind them to be reading at home if they have not already completed their 3 required reflections!
**AR Quizzes will be for practice this month. Some students have never taken an AR quiz. Beginning in October, a passing AR quiz score will be required in order for your child to write their reflection**
4. Graded Papers
Graded papers are going to be coming home in your child's take home folder today! Please look through them together! :)
Coins for a CURE
September is Children's Cancer Awareness Month, and FSAPS is doing our part! “COINS FOR A CURE!” is a month-long fundraising initiative that will benefit children’s cancer research and a local non-profit charity, CURE. Our goal is to raise $1,000 for the CURE foundation and their childhood cancer research. Each grade has a beautiful change jar, and students are encouraged to bring in spare change and fill our first grade jar! Jars will be counted at the end of each week and then a final count will happen at the end of the month. The class that collects the most coins will win a dress down day and special party. We will find out who the winning grade level is at the end of the month on the 29th at a school wide pep rally. Together we can make a difference!

Home Visit Program
Home visits are a special program offered by FSAPS to help build the parent, student, and teacher relationship. This is an opportunity for your child's teachers to visit and get a closer look at their life at home. This helps a teacher to know more about each of his/her students, and build a strong relationship between school and family. These are optional, but if you would be interested in planning a home visit for your child, please see the information below.
How Can You Schedule a Home Visit?
This process is very simple. Please send an e-mail to our home visit coordinator, Mrs. Unal, at junal@fultonscienceacademy.org. In that email, please provide three available dates for your child's home visit. We will get back to you to confirm a date. At least two teachers will be together for home visits; specific names/subjects will be dependent upon teacher availability.
For any questions you have about this program, please send an e-mail to junal@fultonscienceacademy.org.
Please note: the best times to schedule a home visit are weekdays after 5:00pm, and during the weekends, except Sunday mornings.
