In The Know
Furloughed! - By now you should be aware that we have been furloughed for the next two Fridays. This means that the student work load has been reduced by a day for the next two weeks (the rest of the school year). These are no contact days with students meaning we are not to teach or provide feedback nor hold office hours. Of course this will look different for the variety of classifications we have in the district so be sure to check with the email that HR sent for details and further clarification.
PROM - Calling all Churchill High School juniors and seniors!
Tomorrow, Saturday, May 30th, is the BIG day: PROM!!!! We are so excited to offer you the opportunity to participate in prom virtually through Instagram @chslancernation. To participate is easy! Simply document your prom experience with photos and/or videos and post them to your social media using the hashtag #chsinstaprom2020 and also tagging @chslancernation. Make sure to include everything from promposals, to getting ready, to dancing -- we want to see it all! Prom will take place from 8:30-10:00pm tomorrow, May 30th. During this time we will be posting prom court spotlights, sharing students' posts, and announcing our Prom 2020 Royals. Feel free to include your family in the festivities for those that want to and make it a prom event at home! Follow along or download our Spotify 2020 Prom playlist and dance the night away. 2020 Prom Spotify playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7p1DwwdZADn0b3SK8hLzE1?si=z5HRNHCrSpuH2RxCFXNlyA

Coming Into The Building - You may need to come into the building periodically for things before this quarantine is lifted. If you need to come in please feel free to come in mid-week Monday - Friday between 8:00am-4pm. The alarms will be off and you can grab whatever you might need. It is essential that you sign in on the yellow pad as this is the document we use to ensure social distancing and to identify where doors need to be sanitized.
Beat the Odds – Please consider joining me at an awesome event, Stand for Children’s “Beat the Odds” http://stand.org/oregon/beat-the-odds where we celebrate courageous high school seniors who have overcome many obstacles, and award them $16,000 college scholarships.
It’s normally a big banquet at the U of O Alumni Center. This year they’re going virtual – please click below to RSVP. The Beat the Odds live stream hour will celebrate four incredible local seniors headed to college. Two of the students this year are from Churchill! The students will share their stories and their college plans. It’s just one hour, but I promise you will be inspired and uplifted. PLEASE RSVP, and they will send you the link to the event.

Team Awesome - I am so proud to work at Churchill High School. We had so many staff show up and support our seniors. It was really exciting to see so much love and genuine care for our students. You showed up in spirit and it said a lot to the students and parents. It was a beautiful mix of Senior Assembly, Club Carnival, and Graduation all rolled into one. Jill you are amazing and you supported so many details with grace and poise. Thank you for your partnership.
I couldn't be more happy than I am for the great event we hosted. So many moving pieces and the support for pulling this off came from so many people. Thanks to Elizabeth, Allison, and Renee for your indomitable PRIDE spirit. You made CHS shine.
Debbie, Tiffany, Nita, Katy, Mary Beth, Court, Lynne, Misael, Casandra, Lisa, Kevin, Scott, and Robin - You all rallied to engage students and families and ensure that they were taken care of. You show your care and testament to families on the daily and this week it was on point.
Keith, I can't thank you enough for being "Johnny on the Spot" with requests such as hanging banners, tuile, blocking driveways, setting up equipment. Thank you Dorothy, Mandy and crew for breaking it all down and putting it away at the end.
To everyone who showed up for our seniors you made this moment truly special for each graduate, thank you. We heard multiple times that what Churchill HS staff did for students was above and beyond. Thank you all for being a part of that.
Please email Jill if you want her to add you to this album so you can upload your own photos from Thursday. https://photos.app.goo.gl/K51hZVxL1K7Pjxru5
