Carver Cares
Weekly Update
What is Carver Cares?
In January of 2013, after a string of fatal opioid overdoses in Carver, the community developed the Carver Cares Coalition. Today, after eleven years of commitment and collaboration- Carver Cares continues to carry on the mission to Prevent Youth Substance Use.
In 2022, Carver was awarded $125k/year by the CDC with the Drug Free Communities Grant. This funding will support the coordination of community facing initiatives and continued capacity building to support the efforts of Carver Cares. Through providing education, information, and resources to Carver, we hope to see the number of youth first use and misuse by all decrease.
In order to continue this work and see the negative impact on substance misuse, we need Carver resident voice and perspective. Meetings are held monthly but not a requirement to participate in the coalition's important work. If you'd like to connect to learn more, please call 508 866 6106 or email quirkem@carver.org.
Thank you for your time, consideration, and care!

Talk with Your Kids About Vaping
The Collaborative is excited to share a video series on the dangers of vaping that is now available in English, French, Portuguese and Spanish.
In March of 2023, the Collaborative partnered with Brockton Public Schools and the Greater Boston Tobacco Free Partnership to offer a virtual vaping education event for parents, caregivers, community members and all of Brockton.
During this presentation, Patrick St. Martin of the Greater Boston Tobacco-Free Community Partnership shared valuable information about vapes, their impact on youth, and prevention strategies to use when talking with family members about vapes.
The Collaborative has since worked with its partners at KeyLingo to create the following translated versions of the event for your viewing! Please feel free to share these YouTube links with your networks. The intended audience of the videos are adults.
