Succeeding in Middle School
Send Your Child to School Ready to Learn
A nutritious breakfast fuels up middle schoolers and gets them ready for the day. In general, preteens and teens who eat breakfast have more energy and do better in school.
You can help boost your child's attention span, concentration, and memory by providing breakfast foods that are rich in whole grains, fiber, and protein, as well as low in added sugar. If your child is running late some mornings, send along fresh fruit, nuts, yogurt, or a peanut butter and banana sandwich. Many schools provide nutritious breakfast options before the first bell.
Preteens and teens also need the right amount of sleep to be alert and ready to learn all day. In general, preteens need about 10 to 12 hours of sleep each night and teens need about 8½ to 9½ hours.
Bedtime difficulties can arise at this age for a variety of reasons. Homework, sports, after-school activities, texting, TVs, computers, and video games, as well as hectic family schedules, can contribute to students not getting enough sleep. Also try to prevent kids from napping after school to ensure they can fall asleep at an appropriate time each night.
Lack of sleep can make it difficult for preteens and teens to pay attention in school. It's important to have a consistent bedtime routine, especially on school nights
Here is what some of our students did this past summer!
Liberty Kindell spent her summer riding her horse! She worked hard and saved her money since she was 5 years old and finally bought her own horse this summer!
Riley Davies got to spend lots of time this summer doing all the things she loves. Swimming, camping, hiking, hanging out with cousins, and playing soccer. She was able to play in a couple summer tournaments with her La Roca team and brought home some new medals for winning to add to her collection!
Jose Rodriguez went on a vacation to California. Jose and his family had a fun time going to California but the funnest part of this vacation was going to Knott's Berry Farm. José got to see and take pictures with Snoopy and one of Charlie Brown's friend Lucy. He got to attend one of their shows and had a fun time being at the amusement park and riding some of the rides.
Micah Billings went to Scotland and England and saw lots of cool stuff this summer, including the House of Parliament, lots of castles, islands and puffins, and tons and tons of sheep!
Micah Billings also participated in the musical, Matilda, with Payson Community Theatre. 2022 was one of his best summers ever!
Piper Knight 6th grade. Went to Bear Lake for the 1sr time and learned to paddle board. She got so good she was able to take little cousins on the paddleboard with her.
Parents Help!
