Tier 1 Action Plan Lessons

Week 1: Creating Habits and Routines

Students will learn the importance of having a daily routine and will create a daily home and school schedule.


ASCA Mindsets and Behaviors:

M 1: Belief in development of whole self, including a healthy balance of mental, social/emotional and physical well-being.

B-SMS 8: Demonstrate the ability to balance school, home and community activities.

Week 2: Creating Goals

Students will learn the importance of having goals and will create their own SMART goal by the end of the lesson.


ASCA Mindsets and Behaviors:

M 6: Positive attitude toward work and learning.

B-LS 7: Identify long- and short-term academic, career and social/emotional goals.

Week 3: Personal Responsibility to Self, Family, and Community

Students will learn about the importance of having responsibility to self, family, and their communities. By the end of the lesson, students will form a responsibility tracking sheet to keep track of their current responsibilities.

M 6: Positive attitude toward work and learning.

B-SMS 1: Demonstrate ability to assume responsibility.

Week 4: Conflict Resolution

Students will learn what conflict means and the steps to resolve conflicts peacefully. Students will be able to practice problem solving skills and identify when they need to ask for help.

B-SMS 7: Demonstrate effective coping skills when faced with a problem.

Week 5: Handling Worries

Worries happen from time to time. Students will learn to identify which worries are in their control. Students will also learn how to handle worries that are out of their control by utilizing coping skills.

B-SMS 7: Demonstrate effective coping skills when faced with a problem.

Week 6: Healthy Habits

Students will learn the importance of healthy habits and develop strategies for a healthy lifestyle. When faced between unhealthy and healthy options students will know the value of choosing the healthy option.

M 1: Belief in development of whole self, including a healthy balance of mental, social/emotional and physical well-being.

B-SMS 2: Demonstrate self-discipline and self-control.

Week 7: Positive Attitude and Growth Mindset

Students will learn how having a positive attitude will lead to success at school, home, and life. Students will also learn how their minds grow and change with effort and hard work by understanding and practicing growth mindset.

B-LS 4: Apply self-motivation and self-direction to learning.

Week 8: Gratitude

Students will learn what gratitude means, practice gratitude, and how to manage their own mental and physical health in their daily lives.

B-SS 9: Demonstrate social maturity and behaviors appropriate to the situation and environment.
