4th Grade Magnet Classroom Update
August 22-26
Thinking Skills Vertical Groups
Students will rotate through vertical groups where we will introduce four types of thinking skills (creative, critical, analytical, and executive). They will learn what the different types of thinking are, participate in an activity which uses that type of thinking, and reflect on how specific types of thinking enhance our learning.

In science, students will revise questions for our energy investigations. They will begin to plan their investigation by researching to develop a hypothesis, identifying materials for their investigation, and creating procedures. In math, students will set goals based on their pre-assessments. They will work in groups to create place value songs (working with whole numbers or decimals based on their pre-assessment) which describe the names of places and how to round numbers.
With Mrs. Hartley
In ELA, students will analyze allusions in literature and then create a product that includes an allusion. Together we will continue to read aloud Iris Messenger, with a focus on Greek figures and their stories. In addition, students will learn how to write an effective literary analysis, citing specific details from a text to support their ideas.
