From the Principal's Office...
It is 3 weeks into the school year and things are really hopping! There are 3 times during the school year, where we ask all of our families to join us for Mass. Even if your family isn't Catholic, we can come together to pray and give thanks for our amazing school family. Sunday, September 18 is the first of those days for this coming year. We will atttend Mass as a school family at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. The 3rd Sunday of every year is Catechetical Sunday when we gather to pray for God's blessing on teachers for this coming year. Teaching is so much more than a job, it is a vocation where we are called to live out our love for God by loving and guiding the children He...through you...puts in our care.
We would greatly appreciate it if each family would make it a priority to attend Mass with us on Sunday, September 18 at 9 am. Please have your child(ren) wear their school uniforms.
St. Therese, Sts. Cyril and Methodius, pray for us!

Virtue of the Week September 12-19: Docility
Prayer: Dear Jesus, You are my teacher in every situation! Before acting on important matters, please give me the humility to seek Your wisdom and the wisdom of others, in order to make the best decision.
"This is my body given for you" Luke 22:19
Catechetical Sunday is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the role that each person plays, by the virtue of Baptism, in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel. This year, we join with the entire Church in celebrating Catechetical Sunday on September 18 at 9 am at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. The theme for this year, chosen by the United States College of Catholic Bishops is "This is my body given for you". Our teachers, along with parish catechists will be called forth to be commissioned for our ministry.
The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life. The term "Eucharist" originates from the Greek word echarista, meaning thanksgiving. In the celebration of the Eucharist, bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ through the power of hte Holy Spirit and the instrument of the priest. The whole Christ is truly present-body, blood, soul, and divinity-under the appearances of bread and wine, the glorified Christ who rose from the dead. This is what the Church means when she speaks of the "Real Presence" of Christ in the Eucharist.
2022 Golf Marathon to Support Positive Options
Walk a Thon
This is our major fundraiser for the school this year. Best practice for quality Catholic Schools operation on a 1/3-1/3-1/3 funding formula. 1/3 of our funding comes from tuition payments, 1/3 of our funding comes from parish support, and the final 1/3 comes from donations and giving. This means that when your family and friends support the Walk-a-thon they are helping us to engage in best practice. Maintaining the 1/3-1/3-1/3 balance means that we can continue to keep tuition costs down because we are not solely relying on our families to fund the school.
Help Needed
We need someone to walk with our classes to Henika Library on September 20. A big thank you to Laura Menke and her mom for volunteering for this past week! If you can volunteer, please either fill out the form on Sign Up Genius (Chaperones to walk to Henika Library) or text Sheryl at 616.291.7443.
Conferences are coming on September 28 and 29. Our teachers teach all day and start conferences almost as soon as our students are dismissed. It would be a great service to them to have someone coordinate a simple dinner the evening of the 28th. A crockpot of soup, some bread and a little sweet would go along way to helping our teachers maintain their stamina during conferences. If you would be willing help round up a few other families to help put together dinner for the teachers, please click on the link and sign up to Coordinate dinner for the teachers. Thank you in advance!
