JMMS Little Congress Visits the Ohio Statehouse

On Wednesday, November 16, 2022, 24 members of the JMMS Little Congress traveled to Columbus to learn more about how the State Legislature works. The kids met with Representative Scott Oelslager, watched Senator Kirk Schuring in session, sat in a committee chamber, and watched a House vote in session from the gallery. The trip was paid for by a grant through the Ohio Statehouse Museum and JMMS student fundraising. Awesome day of learning in Columbus!

Attention parents of students who walk from JMMS: Please reinforce with your child the importance of making good decisions when departing from the middle school after the school day ends. This includes following all traffic laws as they walk as well as making positive choices with regard to our neighboring businesses and properties. Your support is critical! Thank you for your help with this!

Student Activities!

Attention 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students: do you like geometry, art, or building cool designs? Then ZOME Geometry Club is for you! At ZOME club, you will create cool 2- and 3-dimensional designs, and solve interesting geometric problems with ZOME tools, all while having fun with friends. ALL students are welcome to attend the first meeting Monday, November 21st after school from 3-4 in Mrs. Billig’s room, #267. If you cannot make it to the meeting but would still like to join, stop down in room 267 to pick up a flier for more information about future meetings. Come check out what ZOME Club is all about!

If you enjoy writing and reading or simply want to practice writing or be more involved at JMMS, consider joining Cubs Column, the JMMS Newspaper! Cubs Column will meet every Wednesday from 3-4pm in Miss Washburne’s room, Room 261. Want more information? Visit Miss Washburne in Room 261 today!!
