## IPC

This week we had our 'Entry Point' for the Chocolate unit. The children closed their eyes while they conducted a taste test. They tasted dark, milk, white, dark organic, milk organic and organice white with cocoa nibs chocolate. They thought about the touch, smell and taste as they tried each one. They discussed and then illustrated what a chocolate machine would look like after watching a portion of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Next week the children will learn about the history of chocolate.

## LANGUAGE ARTS

The CAFE strategy we have been working on is 'To determine and analyse Authors purpose and support with text'. Authors write to entertatin, persuade and/or inform. The children have read pieces of text and can spot the difference between the purposes.

## Writing

In Writing Workshop we continued with information books. Our focus was to look at how we make each section and what we name our headings. We will be sharing and celebrating one of our information books with a buddy class.

## Spelling

This week the spelling focused on question words such why, what, how. We also included words pertaining to writing including sentence, paragraph and question mark.

In grammar we began exploring what a paragraph is. Next week we will see how our sentences can form to make a paragraph.

## MATHS

In Maths this week we finished our unit on 2D and 3D shapes. The children made 3D figures using cubes, cuboids, cones and cylinders. They also completed patterns and made some challenging patterns of their own. Next week we begin a two week unit on fractions.
