Battle of the Books - Round 3 Deadline: December 12th

At the end of Round 3, all participants who have met all the requirements will take a written test on December 16th . The top 4 scores will make up the Raul Yzaguirre M.S. Battle of the Books Team. PSJA Battle of the Books Contest will be held at Southwest ECHS on Thursday, January 22, 2015 .

A.R. Double Point Challenge Winners - 2nd Six Weeks

Sixteen students doubled their A.R. points for the 2nd Six Weeks. The Double Points A.R. Challenge Winners are: Dalila Nunez (6th Grade), Jacob Garza (7th Grade) & Vivian Vela (8th Grade). These students received a $15 Cinemark Theatre Gift Card. Congratulations!

Read Across Texas Day 2014

Students across the state of Texas were asked to Read & A.R. Test on as many books as possible. RYMS library sponsored a Reading "Lock-In" in conjunction with Read Across Texas Day. Students had free uninterrupted time to read and A.R. test during one of their elective classes. RYMS students read & tested on 395 book on that day. 600,565 books were read through out Texas.

Jennifer A. Nielsen Visits RYMS

On November 17th & 18th, RYMS students that read The False Prince by Jennifer A. Nielsen and/or met their A.R. Goal for the 2nd Six Weeks were invited to attend one of two author sessions. Students received an autographed copy of the False Prince and had their picture taken also. Click on the link to see the photo album:

Canned Food Drive to Clear Library Fines

Thirty Four RYMS students donated 70 cans of canned goods to clear their library fines during the month of November. These canned goods will be donated to families in our RYMS community.

Reading Wonderland Exhibition

RYMS teachers were asked to decorate a "book themed' Christmas Tree with one of their classes. The public may vote for their favorite "Reading Wonderland" tree between now and Friday, December 12th. Winners will be announced on Monday, December 15th. 1st place - pizza party & 2nd place - cupcake party. Best of luck to all the contestants.
