Six steps of the naturalization process
1. Obtain a green card.
2. Maintain a physical presence. Present in the country for 30 months of the 5 years needed to apply.
3. Complete the USCIS form N-400
4. Be fingerprinted.
5. Pass interview and neutralization test.
6. Attend the oath ceremony.
Loss of citizenship
If someone were to commit crimes such as treason, participating in a rebellion, and attempting to to overthrow the government with violence could result in loss of citizenship.
Illegal aliens
People who enter the United States without permission, or who have violated the terms of their admission, are identified as illegal aliens.
Legal alien
A legal alien is someone that is from a foreign country who has established permanent residence in the United States. Legal aliens are able to have jobs, own property, attend public schools, and receive other government services.
