Good News Bulletin
For the week of November 4, 2019
EHS Animation Field Trip
Earlier this week, EHS audio-visual students, along with the EZTV class, visited Science of Pixar, the current exhibit at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. Students observed and interacted with computer simulations focused on the elements of animation, including script preparation, storyboarding, lighting, and animating the story narrative.
Sophomore Enrique De La Garza found the exhibit an enjoyable, nontraditional way to learn animation. For example, the process of “rigging,” which allows for the creation of on-screen character movement, involves hundreds of hours of detailed preparation involving math, physics, and teamwork. Senior Taeli Davis was impressed with what goes into creating just one scene. Over 200 lights can be used to provide the needed special effects for just a few frames of a scene.

The future's so bright
Earlier this week, EMS students attended the 8th Grade Career Expo, a special day where local businesses and government partners come together to inspire students for their future. Held at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, students met industry professionals and explored a variety of high demand jobs from over 70 businesses. In addition to gaining hands-on experience, students also completed career journals with numerous questions and tips. Students who did not attend the Expo researched their top career interests and conducted mock interviews.
