GT (Gifted & Talented) TESTING UPDATE
Dear Booker Parents/Guardians,
Greetings Booker Bengals Parents,
Starting the week of October 18, 2021, all Kindergarten and 2nd grade students will be screened for the district Gifted and Talented program. You should have already received a letter of informed consent. If you do not want your child to be screened, please return the signed letter acknowledging your decision to opt out of testing.
In addition to the screening, the district is asking that parents and guardians complete the Parent Inventory. This does not guarantee that your student will advance to the next phase of screening but does allow you the opportunity to share your observations as a parent. We need all parents of Kindergarten and 2nd grade students to complete the inventory that can be found here: Gifted and Talented Parent Inventory
If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Irvin, our school counselor at (281) 891-8750 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Check out the countless resources for grants, information, activities, and so many other fun things to honor Hispanic Heritage!
PLEASE REQUEST A CHROMEBOOK HERE!
EVERY STUDENT NEEDS A CHROMEBOOK. IF YOU HAVE YOUR OWN DEVICE, NO NEED TO CHECK ONE OUT, BUT LET YOUR CHILD'S TEACHER KNOW A CHROMEBOOK IS NOT NEEDED!
Also, a big THANK YOU to all of you who helped get us up to 86% on our Chromebook Audit! We are so grateful! We only have 43 more Chromebooks to audit!

SPRING ISD GENERAL INFORMATION
Don’t miss your chance to take the PSAT
For Spring ISD 8th- 11th-grade students, it’s the time of year to think about signing up to take the Preliminary SAT, or PSAT, test (also referred to as the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, or NMSQT).
The PSAT/NMSQT for 10th- and 11th-Grade Spring ISD students is on Oct. 13 this year, while students in Grade 8 and 9 will have the opportunity to take the test on different days designated for their campus between Oct. 11 - 15.
The PSAT is a great opportunity for rising high schoolers and high school underclassmen to experience the rigors and challenges of studying for and taking standardized college admissions tests. The PSAT is very similar in format to the SAT and makes a great practice test before taking the actual SAT.
Not only is the PSAT a great way to help get ready for later college admissions testing on the SAT or even the ACT, but the PSAT is also the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship Program, which has recognized over 3.3 million students and provided scholarships worth more than $1.8 billion since 1955.
A form for all staff and students to expedite the screeners and vaccines by registering before arrival.
